Sorry Middle America

Sorry Middle America

Theory 28 - Sorry I missed your last post before Jester closed the thread.

This doesn’t exactly say that we are respecting both sexes. lol. Yea, I know you’re probably joking or meant it as funny, so no harm right? Well, same with the post earlier with the wood and plow. I’m sure it was just meant for a laugh or something to get reactions.

OT is fine, but why is girls in their underwear inappropriate? I’m sure we all see less every summer @ the beach or the lakeside. Some of us even in the clubs or bars.

You guys come at me with the post I was describing as being sexist. Ok I’ll agree to that, but at the same time there’s other posts on here that are sexist too and don’t get locked out. I’m not trying to be a bitch about it; I’m just trying to understand the difference. I feel like Charlie Sheen trying to explain himself to middle America about his love for porn stars: “Sorry middle America. Yeah, I said it.”

I guess since DJTT moderators want to censor certain things but not others without real explaination or debate I’m forced to shut it. I’m not a moderator and can’t seem to understand the simplicity of their censorship issues on these forums so I’ll keep my future posts to DJing topics only.

I’ve scaled back considerably on posting inappropriate content. I’m all about generating interest and driving threads with good [OT] dialog, but it has come to my attention, with a little help, that we have 13 year old DJ’s breaking into the scene, as well as female DJ’s, that we must also be respectful towards. We’re glad they are here, part of the DJTT Crew, and I must convey the right message in order not to run them off with a one-sided [OT] (like in my early years).

I didn’t see the post, but I fully understand that this community is growing and not 100% of the membership is actually posting. Therefore, it can be difficult to determine what to post and what content will be viewed by which audience. I post with caution, and with awareness, so that the message is not misinterpreted.

I’m making concerted efforts not to stray from the path, but also focusing that energy on driving as many good [OT] conversations as possible. All in good fun.

It creates a good balance…

(by the way, does this center justified bother anyone?
It works really well for pictures)

this why there needs to be an OT member only forum…

so peeps can post whatever they want…

Nice Ideas

This is one of the better explanations I’ve read thus far. I tend to live or think in terms of a Howard Stern/Charlie Sheen perspective on many things in life. So it’s good to be reminded that there are younger lads or lassies viewing these forums. Guess they are in for a little surprise when they start playing out  I just wish then that others (forum members and moderators alike) would consider this when writing or locking out threads.

Never thought of this, but I would strongly support the idea!

and also, it’s the fucking internet. I know we like to have a nice community here, and that’s cool, and for the most part it works.
But really, these weren’t even nudes. That post wasn’t any different to a lot of OT stuff on here. And I’m certain i’ve seen threads with scantly clad girls on here before.

It was pretty wildly OT for this forum, and I was a bit confused why it was up, but yeah, it’s not like it’s 4chan material. Should have just let it run its course and die

ARG! can somone please make a quote that i can save in a text doc that explains why this shouldnt happen. im tierd of typing it out.

so ill let the op go for being new.

the quote in my sig was a reference to this video:

and the quote was taken from a thread talking about tax returns or something of that sort.

5 dollaholla and getting the bitches has become an inter forum meme, its no more sexist than the musically oblivious 8th grader and boxxy memes

yes it refers to women as ‘bitches’, but taken out of context its a lot more derogatory sounding than it really is.

dont take this the wrong way, im glad we can clear this up, and we always welcome new members, but you seem to be trying had to make us sound like hard core hypocrites with double standards all the way. (had to throw in another meme, sorry)

also, im interested to see what 5 dolla holla has to say.

EDIT: also want to throw in that we help a lot of people, im not saying that as an excuse, but rather as a ‘look, were not here just to dick around’ kind of thing.

we have a solid community, and when we push the envelope we all kind of get the idea, and as previously stated, we are turning that down. (I.E. b3n isnt posting 5 half naked women every month (i make it sound like a lot, dont i))

also, the guy to girl ratio here is low. its also low on 4chan.

yeah, were not really that bad when i put it like that, now are we?

as for trolling, i make a point of saying trollface.jpg, jk, or trolololol in the post i set as bait. so i do my part to make the joke, but not let it get out of hand (i make mac v pc jokes from both sides A LOT in the chat room). i also never refer to this site by its name when i talk to my fellow trolls, because today for example, he wanted to ‘pay a visit’. he asked for a link and i simply said no. the end. and we moved on.

also, im a notorious IRL troll. i make it my habit to piss people off or feel uncomfortable/ awkward. so coming from me, take this post how you will.

check yourself bro…

the ot part of the another forum i am a part of has a cookbook section in it…which i post in also…

it also has a car audio part to it also…

alot of us have interests outside of DJ-ing…it’s all about a common thread…

no, its that chances are the board related to DJing help will be visited less frequently leaving questions unanswered. so by creating an OT forum that will be visited more, we will now be formally shifting from ‘helping and being OT when theres nothing to help with’ to ‘OT, and checking out the help forum from time to time’

yes we have a lot of OT threads, but thats what keeps us coming back. now when a help thread is posted, its like a billboard, we might not want it there, but its there; in our face. so were reminded why were here, and so we open it.

thats the way I see it.

copys into a .txt for future use
we also had a quite long thread on this if someone could pull that up. i would love to edit that into this post and the .txt

This has been discussed many times guys. The General Forum was actually created for off topic conversations originally.
As i mentioned in Chelans other thread as long as the topic is not deemed offensive, “overtly” sexist or anything the community is cool with it. As long as the GT forum isn’t flooded with OT i don’t see an issue here.
I count 6/22 OT’s on the first page onthe general forum right now. Thats fine.
If you find a particular topic or post offensive or innapopriate, feel free to report it with the feature.
Regards, J

Bingo. Yes, this is the internet. And the internet is about 50% nudie women. So we don’t really need any more here, do we? There are plenty of message boards out there for you, whatever your kink is…

…there’s off topic, and there’s the topic that makes this board look like a group of spotty, hormonal teenagers rockin’ with their cocks out in a girl-free frat dorm. It really isn’t needed.

Lethal FTW!!!

I should say at this point that I do like boobies. Yes ladies. I DO LIKE BOOBIES.

Only 50% huh … hmm you obviously haven’t seen my bookmarks mate lol wink

I think you speak for all mankind dude.

They are my Kryptonite

The restraint that is in play now, could move mountains…but it’s all for the greater good.

All things female…pure Kryptonite

Clearer perspective

theory28 - I understand what the main reason of DJTT is - thats what brought me here in the 1st place. I only read the articles (on the main page) for about 9 months or so before I even clicked the forum link. And I do appreciate all the help I have gotten & things I’ve learned. But I will admit that after spending far more time then I ever thought I would on these forums it does seem like sometimes moderators are hypocritical in what they do/don’t allow.

I just recently got into b3n stormtroopers thread. Damn how I love that thread as it seems the majority of us members do. I admit I’ll probably go back on my word and post on that OT thread. So much interesting shit there for us Star Wars fans. But really some of those photos are no less revealing then the wood plow post. But hardly anyone gives a shit cause it’s Star Wars and a few hotties in costume - Duh, Winning!

Jester - I appreciate you pointing out that we could report posts for inappropriate content. I forgot about that, though I’m really not one to try and play forum moderator and tattle on people.

I like boobies too (as I’m sure u guessed) and I’m glad many of us can admit it. But like you said there is plenty of message boards out there for whatever your kink is: be it bikes, cars, women, sports. Just was trying to understand how one OT topic gets closed while another with the same shit stays open.

I understand a bit more now, but still agree with keithace most in that an OT forum is needed for members only. People will always be looking for help, tips, and questions answered when it comes to DJ technology. Its gonna blow up in here I’m sure next month when TP2 comes out finally. But a designated OT forum would be a great place to for the laughs too IMO.

I was extremely active on newschoolers.com (freeskiing community) from its early days. We too have an OT forum (non ski gabber) which back in its early days was pretty entertaining. Over the 4-5 years we have had a huge influx of new members. I mean huge. Slowly non ski gabber went to shit by being filled with stupid threads filled with trolls and people literally doing nothing else but getting their post count up by starting topics about nothing. It’s gotten so bad that its being spilled over to the actual on topic forums about skiing and the veteran members are getting fed up. Theres only so much mods can do.

Now im sure the average poster on DJTT is over 18 and has more maturity thenthe average poster on NS which is now 13-16, however with DJTT gaining momentum quick, we MAY have the same problem. I doubt it, but thats usually what comes with the territory of having a dedicated OT forum.

Just my experience

On the flip side we have a contributors forum for people who bought stuff from the site and gave money directly to the people running the site as a donation thats invisible to the rest of the site. Theres a thread with 300+ pages of women in underwear in there. Its awesome.

Put it this way. I talk a “bit” of shit and like to joke around etc, but i have banned 3 members already tonight and issued a few warnings. A lot goes on behind the curtains lads. Its a big forum and its hard for the mods to keep an eye on everything, a lot gets by us tbh.

Full on good response
