Speakers (Bedroom DJ)

Knew I would find this thread…So im looking at active speakers also but I want something loud enough for small house parties every once in a while…my dilemma

KRK 8’s for about $225 or
Mackie thumbs 15a for $200…i found a good deal.

Obviously the mackies are meant for parties but do they still have good range for mixing or practicing in my room?

I think the thumps are too much for you room, unless it’s as big as a basketball court.

I shoot 3’s from my computer chair.

I don’t know if I made myself clear though…I would bring these out to house parties or parties at my place…Not only in my room.

Basically, would they be precise enough to pick up frequencies while mixing even at low levels in my room?

Or would the KRK 8’s be good enough for that?

The KRK 8s would do that for you amply. Thumps are not designed for bedroom use!

what about these…

remember i will get krk’s soon but i just want a cheaper pair of monitors.

They look pretty good actually, for the price, but if you’re going to get KRKs then why not just do it now?

yea i was thinking that considering they are 45 more.

go to sapphires in cricklewood (decks.co.uk) and try a few different ones out. Best way to know!

those 179 ones come with a free mic… mite come in handy

Anything else about the reloops? They appear to have a really good freq response.

+1 for the KRK’s - I went with full intentions of paying about 120 quid for a set of monitors and ended up listening to the KRK’s and immediately bought them.

They sound great and look pretty decent too!!!

i have now upgraded to a pair of KRK ROKIT 8’s, the sound is great. Well worth the extra money

I picked up a pair of Yamaha MSP5’s for about 200 used…the clarity is absolutely ridiculous on them. I’d definitely recommend hunting a pair down before getting krks.

iKey Audio M-808V2 I just bought a pair on ebay for $270.00 including shipping. Speakers sound great.

Was gonna start up a topic about this, im in the middle of getting some new monitors, was gonna go with the numarks NPM5s but have seen people have said there a waste of time, im running a macbook pro / hercules dj controller, just want a good set of monitors what are gonna last long and look nice!

Does anyone think these small PA would be fine for house parties (no more than 50 ppl)

Probably minimal bass but people would be drunk and probably wouldn’t care.

What about M-Audio Bx8 D2?
