It seems every time I come on here asking about a mapping question I jump through flaming hoops with several users to try and get a response, but this question is worth answering in my book, so allow me to be blunt and to the point.
I run an American Audio VMS4 with Traktor Pro 2. A built in feature on the VMS4 are two vertical touch strips that act exactly like faders. I want to turn them into super faders to utilize with effects. How do I make a super fader on a controller that isn’t a MF Pro?
I tried searching around the forum, google, youtube, etc. I wasn’t getting an exact answer I was looking for so I’m asking here now.
You just select in the mapong manager witch effect knobs to control and press learn make them fader/knob eater direct or relative.
I you wnat it to work as an normal fader you use driect.
you can also make it a combination of FX knob/Button/FX Load/ FX presettings
so you set the wet/dry to be direct Knob 1 relative with maybe 100% sensative Knob 2 150% knob 3 also direct
button 1 2 3 as hold so when you touch the strip all effect turn on and FX change as you move up or down.
I personaly only use the for Beat slicer
But I don’t have a MF pro so I’m not shure this is what you are after.
The Super Fader, if I’m correct in my understanding, has different midi signals sent out from the same fader. If the fader is all the way down, no effects are on. If the fader is between 1-50% up, then that is one midi signal you can map to, and it will continue to stay on up through the rest of the fader movement upward. If the fader is between 51-99%, a second separate midi signal is sent, so it can be mapped separately. And lastly, at 100%, there is a third midi signal, when the fader is all the way up at the top of its movement. So essentially within the full range of movement the fader travels, there are 3 separate, mappable, signals on on fader.
So it is linked to the hardware/firmware of the unit.
You achieve the same results by using modifiers in your mapping commands so your functions would react accordingly to those modifiers conditions. You probably have already two signals sent by your touchfader, one is the touch itself (on), the other the length of the strip I imagine so you already accommodate a lot with that and some modifiers.
That’s a good point, I supose I’ll try messing around with percentages of touch length if I can figure out what parameters affect that.
Yes, the superfader exactly!! It’s funny, I’ve actually got a smart fader set up for the touch strips already, but I want to make them super faders now.
