Syncing 3 computers with the MIDI clock.
Hey guys, I was wondering if there’s a way to sync 3 computers together with Traktor’s MIDI clock. I’d be using my MAC + A8 to send the MIDI signal to a PC + S4 (that’s easy), but is there a way to create a second link to connect a 2nd S4? Let me know if anyone has managed to do that!
Daisy chaining MIDI cables should produce the same result with 3 computers as with 2.
I personally sync via Ethernet so in that case you can just use a switch.
Alright, this is not going too well…here’s where I’m at.
Hardware:
DJM-2000
A8
MAC
2x PC
2x S4
A lot of cables
The MAC is connected to the DJM-2000 and the A8, each S4 is connected to a PC.
Right now, I have a MIDI cable between the DJM-2000 (out) and the A8 (in) and that works fine. Now I tried putting a MIDI cable between the A8 (out) and the S4 (in), sending the MIDI clock from the MAC, and activating the EXT clock on the PC. Is it supposed to be working? Because right now, it doesn’t…
Looks like you’ll need a MIDI Thru box since none of your devices has a MIDI Thru port.
I guess so. Thanks makar1, didn’t know that existed. Gonna get on that next week. I can’t wait to be done needing cables, adapters and boxes…always something I need but it’s never actual gear..
