Just bought two turntables and a Rane mixer, installed Serato and everything seems fine. Only issue is one turntable isn’t on point when scratching or just moving the record around in general. Thought it was a cartridge, stylus issue, switched them out but problem still persists. Now, I’m thinking I may need to take them to a local shop to get serviced, tuned up. Can anybody give me a referral to a good shop they’ve been to with decent rates and timely service? Preferably a Tech that specializes in turntable repair as opposed to a do it all that works on mostly washing machines. Any suggestions with steps I could take to remedy the problem myself are also appreciated. Thanks!!
Musical Fidelity is a one man shop. I spent about 30 minues on the phone with the guy talking turntables and whatnot. He runs a repair service for high end musical equipment. Though he said he doesn’t generally specialize in DJ related equipment, I have no doubt this guy will give your tables an extremely thorough servicing, he knows what he’s doing. Just give him a call and tell him what’s going on with your table and he will probably have a solution for you.
Ended up going to Astros in Glendale on San Fernando Rd. So far so good, said my turntables ought to be ready by the end of the week. I’ll post an update when I get em back. Thanks for the suggestions!
