temporarily “zoom” layout for traktor
Do you think its usefull? its not permanent change, just for better beatmatching, like other programs have parallel waveforms.

I wouldn’t use it. I think the size that they currently are is more than adequate.
I also don’t understand the usefullness of having parallel waveforms. It’s not like you’re reading the Matrix code scrolling down the screen. There is very limited information in a waveform, and if you can read it and understand it, it will still only tell you basic information.
Seraktor!
Virtual Pro !
If you’re going to beatmatch by ear you should do it by ear. If you’re going to use any aids like the phase meter or what you’ve posted, you might as well just let Traktor sync them for you IMO.
I now that, and I used that when I have to but last time with some strange songs I could use that zoom option because headphone volume was poor and monitor speaker was too loud so with this option I could do better job. Thats all.
and yes SERAKTOR ![]()
and sync option only works 50% of the time, so phase meter is almost always WRONG. And I dont put beatgrids because its too boring to do it all.
Sync works if your BPMS are correct and especially if your grids are right.
Even if you dont use grids sync will work much more than 50% of the time if you have the correct bmp. It has to be better than 50% or your bpms are out.
Phase meter only represents how far out of sync your tracks are. It is always right. If you use tempo bend you can use the phase meter and get your mix right.
Just pickin on ya Karlos, but it’s BPM, not BMP
Don’t want your apt advice to be lost in a sea of mis-spellings ![]()
Dont know what you mean boss. teehee.
Yeah, who’d have thought you’d give apt advice ![]()
With all my respect, I am getting the feeling that traktor is the best software for you then. You are looking at it with Serato eyes…
The visual waveform representation is not really intended to beatmatch visually by means of comparing the waveforms. Bmp meter and Phase meter are the visual aids for beatmatching, and used correctly they do work perfectly as Karlos stated.
When speakers are to loud or sounding bad you can always use a good pair of headphones to perform the task. Or why not grid all your songs so you can use the synch function… ?
I like this view better just becuase you can better time that events are going to trigger at the same time as one another.
Lets take a double drop for instance, its 10x easier telling that your two tracks are going to drop at the same time as one another in Serato as it is in Traktor. The long deck wavforms also give more room to see whats comming up in the audio which means you can still be zoomed right into the wav form and still see alot of whats comming up.
As far as beatmatching goes though i couldnt care less which program i was using because of the holy sync button and the fact that i can see if im in or out of phase\sync easily with either program. I dont see why everyone complains about this, but there are other benefits to this view.
I admit I am looking with Serato eyes because I work with it last night and I CANT BELIVE HOW EASY IS TO BEATMATCH. All the songs that I couldnt easily beatmatch with traktor it was done in 20seconds with SERATO.
I adore traktor and all the benefits from vci-100 and djtechtools site, and all our work would be much easier if serato wave forms are implemented in traktor.
just one hotkey and zoom mode is activated and you beatmatch in 15seconds some hard songs and then again that hotkey and you are back to familier surrounding and now you can do it whatever you like. This is for some other type of music that cant be that easily beatmatch but with this it can be done.
I cant belive that a lot of you are against it. Can you just admit it that would help you in the club if somthing go wrong or if you couldnt beatmatch you could zoom it and see what you are doing wrong. etc
I find the phase meter is fine for beatmatching, I’ll use the phase meter if I’m chatting to someone and trying to cue my next track without my headphones on. No problem in Traktor.
Can see where it might be useful for phase matching or making sure events drop at the right time for tracks you don’t know very well…
how do i get this view?id like to try it out.
its called photoshop buddy
You cant its not possible.
I agree that any visual aid will help. That is a given, no argument.
However if you use the Phase meter a lot it soon becomes an incredibly powerful way of get the mix super-tight. There is ‘nothing’ that any other program has that is that accurate from a visual stand point.
Even when you align the waveforms in other program the mix can be out because of the bpm analysis being slightly out. The phase meter will help you correct it.
This layout would be more possible in Pro than in T3 but you need to consider where all the other stuff like the mixer, Decks C&D are gonna go.
Also saying that it could be a layout toggle is not such a simple call. To change the UI and the waveform in a toggle is a huge change. Its not the same as Browser Only Toggle. Its pretty damn drastic.
I dont think anyone is saying its just copying Serato or its a bad idea, i think its just not as easy as you think.
it would be nice if we could create our own skins similar to virtual dj.
I like this view for what Bento said, it makes timing your drops and everything easier since the two waveforms are next to each other.
Anyway to the OP, I think the majority of people here can beatmatch just fine without this view through using their ears, phase meter, and the sync button. Traktor is often ‘off’ for me, but I just sync the BPMs and make any other adjustments manually.
beatmatching in our digital age i feel = software + common sense. the latter being very important.
