The most essential part of Dj'ing?

I have always advocated for beginners to get the absolute best gear they can. If you buy cheap because you’re a beginner you will always end up spending more money in the end.

But I also think beginners need to grow into their equipment and find their likes and dislikes. It’s unlike how you and I came up with turntables, mixer, no effects. Not much varied even when CD players showed up. The choices these days are immense. I think you need to feel around and see what you like. No reason to spend a thousand dollars (Z2) when you can spend 200 (X1).

wait wait wait wait…

for arguments sake can we get a list of the mixers and controllers you have gone through Mr. JoJo?

x1 is a nice mixer i never got to play with one in person but i looked at them online. thats a good deal i’ma go see if thats the brand new price ( $ 200.00 )

You talking about the numark x1? Looks like that one is discontinued.
The dm950 is a two channel mixer by numark priced at 100.00 thats not bad at all.
I should pick that up.

kontrol x1. I paid 125 shipped for mine. I also went with a physical mixer, xone 22 and an Audio2DJ. Still less than 500 bucks for a full working setup minus a laptop.

Yep a second hand Kontrol X1 and a decent cheap 2 channel mixer like a Xone 22 or a NUO 2 is great for a beginner or anyone who just wants to do two track mixing (majority of people). To be honest a mixer is a mixer especially if you’re just using it in your bedroom through cheap speakers.

If beatmatching was the most important skill the sync button would have us all out of a job.

Did anyone say “beat matching” as the most important skill?

Throughout the thread yeah, there was a couple of people.

NOPE

I looked…(other than Cold Fuzion)…

Well that’s not nobody then is it?

EDIT: It was only one… Still. Not nobody

2 x1’s, a mixer and a 40oz

40oz of? Ever had Old Enlgish? or Crazy Horse?

Come on guys…

You could of atleast changed the punctuation. You changed it from a question to a statement.

Sorry, I’m not quite as pedantic as you seem to be. I’ll make sure I do a better job next time…

This is the big leagues son. Proper punctuation and grammar ain’t to be fucked with.

Duly noted. We should probably end this thread hijack.

lol

while i’m away all this nonsense. Good job guys!
Owel i don’t mind.

Alright so native instruments x1 and a cheap 2 channel mixer. Sweet i’ll save some cash aside for these puppies.
Edit:
Whats a good 2 channel mixer? The numark 2 channel mixer or should I chose another brand? I will go research and ask your guys opinions since all of you have played around with many mixers. I’ve only used NI products. Not a big fan of the cheap plastic feel.

I really like this mixer. Looks sturdy and built well anyone had personal experience with this brand?
