i didn’t argue for the cable. obv, it’s snake oil. i was just being pedantic 
but in a sense, it is important to realize that the signal is an analog one. cause if you transmit digital information via an analog signal, there is the potential for problems during reconstruction of the 0’s and 1’s you were talking about.
in the context of transmitting digital audio over USB, the problem i’m thinking of is jitter. USB audio interfaces now employ a technique called asynchronous USB. but jitter was a real problem for USB audio interfaces not long ago (say, until 3-4 years ago).

asynchronus is the technology usb is based on, there is no usb without that, Also uses hashing for error checking so if there are errors that data is not used. audio dropout can be for this reason however there is normally time to resend data.
The only thing they could ever claim is this is less likely to give u a dropout, however most dropouts are to do with the device sending the data

this is incorrect, usb supports various transfer types. for the transmission of digital audio, three types have been used: synchronous transfers, isochronous transfers, and asynchronous transfers.
