The Traktor F1 & 2.5 Thread

indeed. (curling handlebar mustache)
At last people will stop calling it the X2. Now i look forward to info that proves to people that its not an X1 replacement but i made for a totally different use.
What i find weird is the jump from 2.1.2 to 2.5 straight, i hope it means they fixed so many bugs + added the new features, and not just giving us more features while not having addressed the bugs.
traktor kontrol F1 it’s official
Holy shitttttt. This is fucking awesome. Going to have to add this to my setup when it comes out.
With the track record of NI we may want to wait until 2.5.2 before upgrading.
Curious if 2.5 is going to be a free upgrade or not… Haven’t been doing this long enough to have a gauge on NI’s track record with that.
Yeah maybe you get the upgrade bundled with the controller otheriws another £80 for software upgrade alone.
I reckon it’ll be free
the .x upgrades are normally free, I don’t expect this to be any different. I’m sure this is exciting for some people but I never really used the sample decks and I’ve not used Traktor for quite a while. Maybe I’ll give it a go when I have more time on my hands but making clips has never been something that excites me.
@oneapemob what’s up man, long time no speak!
What would be the smartest use for this kind of equipment? It’s basically a very compact midi controller - like an MPD, right?
Feel the same. My first reaction to this was that its totally something i’d use - back when i thought it was maybe an X1 replacement. Now I’ve seen its real purpose I’m not in the least bit interested! sample decks, Schmample decks!!!
Maybe can finally retire my Maschine that I have mapped with Traktor to a dedicated production setup with this controller. Like a few others I am not really interested in having Ableton live inside Traktor.
What people often don’t consider is that there are Beta Builds between release versions.
Also, i consider the feature changes to be significant enough for it to be more than 2.1.3 or 2.2.0 even. I think 2.5 is a good call.
Yeah, and this is why I stated (last week) that this update and new Kontroller will split the user base into the “Have to have it” and “not interested” camps.
I mean there are still many many users that never used the Sample decks at all when they were introduced and still dont use them. Traktor is a 4 deck application. I think there are probably more people using track decks than the sample slots.
Of course there will be people posting negative rubbish about all this cus it doesnt affect them and they wont benefit.
People should see it as the horizons of Traktor being broadened. Theres still plenty of stuff on the road map for everyone else.
Cant wait for the update, I can finally utilize all the buttons on my APC40 XD
with you there. This update doesn’t really benefit me, but if other people can do new and exciting things with it then I’m not complaining.
i remember seeing you say that and it appears you were very right. will be interesting to see what people that do use the sample decks come up with routine wise with this. Any ideas when the update to 2.5 is coming?
This is perfect for me, I’ve been waiting for something like this to come out so I could finally utilize the sample decks. I was excited when the sample decks were introduced but I’ve had no way to manipulate them or add them into my routine/sets.
With the Kontrol F1 and Traktor 2.5, I’ll finally be able to make use of the innovative sample decks. I’ve been wanting to veer into Ableton live for quite some time now but this release might make me stick with traktor and maschine.
I can envision many uses of the sample decks and the Kontrol F1. Sprinkling one shots ontop of breaks, adding a personal flare by playing self-created loops in junction with tracks. Creating “pits” in the set that deviate entirely from track-mixing by using samples and loops to create your own “corner” in the mix. Using loops as tools to move from one song to the next, creating your own individual atmosphere by utilizing personal loops and pre-made loops in new and exciting ways. Creating your own little beat live and throwing it into the mix!
This is all very exciting for me as I feel bored just mixing from track to track. I’m a purist in the sense that I enjoy the songs I play and respect the producer’s product by playing the majority of the song, so to some my mixing style isn’t fast or flashy. By implementing these sample decks I can finally add that flare that’s been missing from my sets whilst keeping myself and the audience entertained.
I believe DJing will evolve into a more performance orientated art, as it should be, instead of just playing track to track without any musical innovation or improvisation. This is KEY to advancing our art!
Good job NI, I am impressed. All I’ll need is my maschine and traktor, no ableton required anymore!
So the question is like it has been stated, upgrade or update?
I guess date for it is april as well.
The main reason I never did an Ableton set is that I missed traktor’s transport and looping controls, I know that you can achieve something similar but it’s not the same IMO. If it works as advertised, it should be the best of both worlds (excluding m4l and vst support). Like a lot of people did when the S4 got announced, I’m more interested in the software side of this rather than getting the controller. Still think is a very good piece of hardware.
A K2 still catches my eye more than the F1 since I need a bit more versatile so expect a intuitive map for it. I’m sure that I can achieve the page scrolling (limited to 8 groups of 4, but I find it more than enough) with some modifiers.
Now I got greedy and I want it to pass the almost 4k downloads of my X1 deck/sample map
.
PS: anyone got a hint of the K2 release date? Rumors were early-mid january but still no news. (sorry for the little derail)
vids removed?
