I’ve bought a new Webcam (Logitech C920) to record my sessions but apparently i am to stupid to set the audio correctly: Whenever I record something (DVS, Traktor Z2) the control noise of the control vinyls is extremely loud, you can barely hear the tracks. What am i missing here?

No, that’s definitely not it. I have set my Z2 as input source in Quick Time.
I tested it in internal play mode with the same settings and the sound was perfect. It is definitely the Timecode signal being somehow passed to the recording software on top of the traktor output…
I didn’t check it out yet, but this is what the awesome DJTT team wrote me via Facebook:
If the Z2 master output is being set up as the audio source on your recording software it’s possible the cause for this is that it’s picking up the Z2’s external inputs along with it (the timecode signal). This should be easily solvable by NI via a driver/firmware update. In the meantime, a quick & dirty fix would be to connect a RCA to AUX cable from the RCA master outs of the Z2 and plug them into your Mac’s headphone jack (which doubles as a line input), then set that in Quicktime. There shouldn’t be any noticeable audio quality drop since you are running a quite short RCA to AUX cable. Alternatively, you can use something like SoundFlower which will create that cable connection virtually. You’d set Soundflower as the record out in Traktor and then the Soundflower input into Quicktime.
I feel so stupid, it is still not working with the workaround suggested…
Firmware of Z2 and Traktor are the latest version
I tried the headphone/mic workaround, but i cannot select it as input in the Mac sound settings (i use an adaptor from RCA to line with three rings, so it should work, i guess…)
When i set soundflower as Audio Device in Traktor i obviously cannot hear anything nor won’t quicktime (soundflower 2 or 64 Ch. as input) receive any signal.
I dunno what to do, i feel pretty stupid actually. Thanks for you help anyways…
I had this problem YEARS ago with DJ Decks and a u46DJ sound card.
There was an option in the driver settings for the u46DJ audio interface called “Thru”. Disabling it stopped the sound of the timecode (that high pitched whining sound) getting to the recording.
oh my god… I had one of those and thought it was bleeding the input to the output and eventually gave up on it for that reason… I think I still have it in a box somewhere
DJTT just responded on Facebook again. Unfortunately none of their solutions provided earlier seem to work. Imma open a support ticket to NI…
Sadly, after re-checking both recommended workarounds it seems both will have issues with your setup. 1. Aux cable - Apple replaced the old combo jack with the same one used in iPhones in Retina models, disabling the Line Input functionality. 2. Soundflower - Getting audio into Quicktime isn’t really an issue. What is tho is that you’ll have to aggregate both Soundflower and the Z2 as a new device so you can have both working in Traktor. Since you are using timecode, Traktor will disable timecode since that aggregated device is technically not DVS enabled hardware, rendering this workaround useless for you. There MIGHT be a way to make it work but it could lead to instability so you’d be better off just using Traktor’s own recorder and then splicing it with the video. I noticed Patch replied to you on the forums suggesting a THRU setting but, unless it got added recently, isn’t on the Z2’s control panel, it’s controlled by the orange Traktor buttons on the top of each of the mixer’s channel so if those are lit THRU should be technically disabled already.
I literally am having the same problem as you. I have the same webcam and set up. I also wanted to point this out which is weird. Before my turntables and z2 were connected to my computer. As much as I tried I couldn’t figure out how to not let youtube or any other app that made noise not come through the mixer. It was annoying when I would try to go live with other people on hangouts and they would hear themselves through me. I only wanted my turntables to play through, I tried different settings and couldn’t figure it out.
Now I brought my turntables to a different room and am using my laptop. Once everything was set up I opened the logitech camera software to record. I went to my computers setting and changed it to traktor master, as well as on the software. Now. I’m playing music through youtube and I can hear it on my headphones and speakers(connected to traktor master outputs) but it doesnt record on the software. When I play my turntables all I hear is the time code signal. I tried different settings in traktor, my computer, and the software. Nothing so far. It’s really weird it records the time code(better than nothing). I even tried moving the usb connections around and no luck. I’m gonna keep trying to find a result to this problem. Cheers.
