Timecoded vinils vs CDJ mixing opinions

Hi all again!

I wanted to throw you a question to see what and how you think.

Do you prefer MIXING with timecoded vinils or better with CDJs?

I currently own 2 Pioneer CDJ 400, which I mapped to virtual dj, and actually work very well but I’m wondering if I should start making use of my 2 Akiyama Acura, for example, with time coded vinyls.

What would your opinion be?

Suggest you buy a couple of pieces of timecode vinyl and have a go. They are so cheap you’ll be mad not to.

What about the external soundcard? Isn’t it necessary to have one?

And what about using 2 timecoded vinils + 2cdj, all of them connected to my laptop?. Would it be possible? And if so, which software would you recommend for mixing with 4 decks?

I like using turntables because I spin lots of real vinyl records and it feels more natural staying on the same decks. I would say it would be the same if you are using normal cd’s most of the time.

So, is it possible to use 2turntables with timecode vinils + 2 cdj, so its 4 decks, all mapped to some software?

Yes, depends on what you’re using for a mixer/controller and potentially software though.

i use cdjs mainly, but i like to play on timecodes when i get the chance.

DVS is definitely more fun for me. Just make sure you don’t fall into the ‘eyes glued to the laptop’ trap. maybe practice with some real vinyl would help with that

you could use Mixvibes Cross the DJM400 are HID so they work as good with Cross as they would with CD’s and you can use just about any sound card with Cross for DVS
