anything?
Just go to a club that plays the same genre as you and give the manager a mixtape and if he likes it you will get booked. Pretty simple stuff
OK better question. Anyone know of any good clubs in the phoenix valley az for EDM?
Just go to the clubs that you enjoy going to and give the manager your mix and talk to the resident dj’s. You’re over 18 right?
Uh… are you sure you’re ready…
Just last month you were trying to find a controller…
Here are the best tips to start your career ![]()
Joining or forming a group/society can help your chances significantly. If you can offer to put on a whole night for a club they’re much more likely to be interested.
Im speaking ahead when i know i can handle my controllers. Im putting allot of hard work in it and hopefully be there soon.
Network with other local djs. It’s gonna be tough starting out with your own productions, approach cafes and lounges or other spots that don’t have a top 40 crowd and see about getting a night.
It’s been my experience that if you get your name and your mixes out there, gigs will come to you.
I’m also gonna share in the concern that you might not be ready for live gigs, given your history on this forum… Do you have any tracks or mixes that we can listen to? How much music do you have, and how do you plan to perform it?
This is the thing though, you keep planning ahead. You’re living in the future, speculation.
Live in the present!
To be honest your tracks aren’t on a level where clubs would book you based on the music you make.
Yeah thats what i was thinking at first lounges and cafes, busking maybe? I honestly dont know many clubs in this area since i moved out here.
I have allot of Tracks (Also looking for someone or someplace to help master)
I dont have any mixes yet. Im trying to get my songs finished first.
If you want to play at clubs, you have a better chance if you are part of the scene. Clubs/promoters want DJ’s that know people, understand the crowd, and ultimately can put people inside the club. It takes a little more than just a mix or a good track to get booked. Get out and meet people is the best way of landing gigs.
Yeah the tracks i have out right now are more on the softer/slower tempo side for Elctro House/ Complextro i think.
What kind of music would you describe it?
I got many other songs like i said im looking for someone to help mix/master for me.
I find myself to be Ambient,Complextro,Hip Hop
I want to integrate and working on more Electro House hopefully soon
Patience, which you don’t seem to show much of.
At this point I’d work on establishing relationships within the scene. Don’t push yourself onto anyone as a producer/dj until you actually have something to show. Spend time at clubs, meet the people into the same kind of music, and get involved!
That way, by the time you are ready, you should already have a good idea who to talk to and where to go to find those gigs.
Don’t get ahead of yourself!
Practice
Think that’s right, you maybe wanna go to fast for this ! Abviously, i think any DJ that is on the scene should have A LOT of experience before. I would continue working hard on producing, mixing home, for quite a time, maybe get a larger library of music if needed, and start in bars or lounges.
All the DJs i know in my town have started in night bars, and they grew up to clubs, sometimes big clubs. think it’s also a better school for DJs to start because it’s harder to make dance people in bars, and make the crowd crazy, where it’s easier in most of the clubs.
Practice.
can you DJ?
Don’t use words like complextro…
