TouchOSC on iPad via Ad Hoc Win8

TouchOSC on iPad via Ad Hoc Win8

Hey guys!
First of all, i’m French so sorry if my english is bad :disappointed:

So, I’ve bought an iPad2 and I want to use it as midi controller via TouchOSC. I used to use it with wifi but in clubs, I don’t have Wifi. So I was searching for another method:
One was talking about jailbreaking so I don’t want to. The other was talking about setting a Ad Hoc connection between your 2 devices. Hmmmm, ok…

Does somebody here did it and can he explain me how?

I have an iPad2, a laptop running windows8, I want to control Traktor Pro2 and OSCbridge is seted up ^^

Thank you for reading my topic and i’m hopping someone will be my savior!

Bye guys!

(Sorry if i’m not at the right place to talk about this…)

hello and welcome to the forums.
Yes you need to create an ad-hoc connection on your pc (it’s a bit tedious on windows 8):

Once done, select your ad hoc network within your ipad preferences as your wifi network.
Osc bridge does the rest as usual.

Bonne chance ^^

Thank you Yul (merci mec  ) for your answer, but actually, it doesn’t help me at all… I already went throught all of this (5 times…), I assume (maybe I shouldn’t…) I did everything good to set my ad hoc connection… but when I go on TouchOSC app, no midi message is sent… or none is recieved … I dunno… but it is very annoying… does someone already had this problem?

Hopping (so hard) someone has a solution…

Hello XaX,
I own a smiliar setup: Windows 8, Ipad+touchOSC.
The frustrating bit is that you cant make ad hoc connections on either.
I have tried other programs that promise to make adhoc networks on adhoc but they just end up hurting my system.

The Best solution:
Depend on a router or just Get an android phone that can make a WiFi hotspot for you.

Re XaX,

I can’t really help you on the ad-hoc connectivity side.
However within touchosc, did you set up properly like:
within parameters, is the midi bridge connected (“enabled” and do you see your computer’s name. Eventually here you can enter directly your computer’s IP - but he should find it itself alone. Disconnect all other bridges you don’t use (osc, mobilizer, core midi).
Within traktor are your ports for your device/mapping set to touchosc bridge?
