Trade CDJ 850s for Technics?

Trade CDJ 850s for Technics?

I’m looking to get rid of my CDJ 850s (upgraded to XDJ-1000s). Physically they’re in mint condition, although one does have buzzing (which can be stoppped by rotating the RCA cable). I’ve really been wanting a pair of Technics. Would it be a fair trade if I swapped my CDJs for a pair of Techs?

Eh it’s possible, but finding someone to do that will probably be hard.

Hard in general, or hard because of the RCA issue?

I can’t see many people with Techs looking to trade them for digital players unless they have more than 1 pair. Hope you can find someone though.

I feel you. I felt it was an even trade from a business standpoint. Techs go for around $700 where I’m at, while 850s go for around $1000. Throw in the RCA thing and it’s pretty fair. But I see what you’re saying about the digital thing.

I’ll ask my good buddy about it… He has 1200’s, but really wants CDJs haha. I’ll let you know.

Sounds good. :+1:

You could always sell the 850’s and buy the Technics separately?

id get that buzzing fixed first , no ones gonna want to buy or trade 1k$ cdjs that have problems and give a good price.

Yeah, a good point. It really shouldn’t be that costly to have it cleaned up/fixed.

Your best bet is to sell them and buy techs. I think the market for someone looking to trade tables for CDJs is pretty small, although there are some out there just sick of lugging records…

If I had Technics, and wanted CDJ-850’s, I’d trade.

Never underestimate the power of “want” when offering (or replying to) trades…

And that “buzzing” sounds more like a cable issue than an RCA connection issue. try taking th ecable out of the CDj and tightening the connector by twisting it tightly. Unless it’s a cheap Red/White RCA. If it is, just bin it and buy another for £1.

Thanks Patch. I actually bought a nice set of new RCAs but the problem continued. Like I said in another post, if I just lightly twist the white RCA in the buzzing CDJ it stops. It’s not a headache for me, I just don’t know how to solder on a new RCA connector.

just call pioneer, get an RMA number, send it in and pay however much they need, which will probably be a lot since its pioneer unfortunately. they will fully fix the issue or you can hold them responsible until they do. this is better than some unhappy buyer dogging you until the end of forever. i have found even telling someone there is a problem with something , and telling them it costs X to replace but you will give them X plus something for the hassle, and it just scares them into looking elsewhere. you want pioneer on the hook for it, and if the product is out of warranty, youll pay them for it, but its really the best option. with properly working gear , you can control the trade or sale better.

Fixed the issue last night by a certified Pioneer specialist. Replaced the RCA unit and re-tuned the CDJ. Thing is like brand new.

Score. Still waiting for my buddy to get back to me.

ive got a pair of 1210 mk 2’s in good condition - lids, rubber mats, slipmats + ortofon carts that i have been thinking about selling to reinvest the cash in some cdjs, not sure where your based (im uk) but the buzzing doesnt sound too healthy

I’m in the U.S. unfortunately. The buzzing is gone. The RCA unit was replaced with a new one. Actually, the guy put a gold one in. Works fantastically. I mentioned to the guy that I was fixing them to sell in hopes of getting Techs. He smiled and said follow me. Took me to his shop behind his house. The shop was legit as fuhhhhh. Turns out he customizes and repairs Techs as well. Gave me a run on some M3Ds. Wowwww so nice! Told me if I found a pair of Techs to call him so he could see them beforehand. Super nice guy. I lucked out.

Shipping shouldn’t be too expensive. Probably around £50 each way…

you couldnt get the guy interested in any kind of trade?
