Select all the files inside of mix share, right click on them and find the write tags option.
Ok more problems ![]()
Some of my files within rapid evolution just dont seem to work. When i right clcik and use teh detect function the progress bar just fills up mega quick and no detection has taken place.
Any ideas what the issue is anyone ?
Cheers
Gav
Ps .. cheers bento for the alst answer as it worked a treat.
What type of file it detect ? are these mp3’s ?
Could be a mp3 encoder problem
I had the same issue when detecting key only. What helped was detect all and only detect that one song that’s giving you trouble. Also try restarting RE, cause sometimes no matter what you do it just sits and hangs on certain songs especially when you do large amounts without restarting.
Yup its mp3’s. I will try what you say Mr Phaidon although i think its something specific to the file as ive tried on two diff window installs.
Cheers guys , i’ll let you know how i get on.
Think ive found (ish) where the problem lies, and yet again it appears to be down to the tags that mp3tag writes to files.
I have just stripped all the tags and re detected and got a key detection succesfully.
Anybody have any ideas why this could be happening ? or which tag is the problem here ![]()
mp3tag could be writing to the fields that RE is trying to write to? only thing I can think of. Only reason that this comes to mind is that if you select 5 styles in RE, and then write the tag, when you re-style a song to have only 3 styles, it will add in 2 because RE doesn’t overwrite the whole field and the 2 last styles become persistent.
Ive never really understood tags to be honest.
So even though mp3tag uses a field and calls it styles for instance, this could be the same tag that RE uses for key?
Is there a way of checking this? Any information about tags would be a god send i guess as whilst i am tagging all my music selection slowly it appears this will effect my ability to mix harmonically ![]()
I think it is because traktor uses v 2.4 and that screws up the keys showing up. That happens to me all the time.
The “standard” for ID3 tags is really not “standard” is the problem. www.Id3.org has the standards if you want to read them, but they are rarely followed and most companies add there own coding in fields to make it proprietary.
RE writes most of it’s info into a single field. Not completely sure where it writes key info to, so I can’t say if it clashes with any of Traktor’s reading/writing, other than the part that Jester mentioned about 2.4 vs. 2.3, but both tags can and should be written by RE so … ![]()
Jaikoz can read all the fields, and is the only one I know of cause I found it and didn’t need to search further. When you look at them, you’ll see that RE writes a bunch of it’s stuff to one field, and Traktor writes a bunch of its stuff to another field, completely separate.
Cheers Jester but i’ve checked this and it doesnt seem to be the prob as i have some 2.4 stuff that is detecting with no issues
… I feel this is gonna be like my ableton experience all over again … a process of god damn elimination haha .. Bloody tags!! ![]()
Do ytou tyhink it could be space issues. There is only so much space allocated for all teh tags, is that right ? So say there are loads of trags already could it be full and no room for more?
Anyway of checking this out that anyone knows about ?
btw i am a bit confused about MIK vs. RE/beatunes key’s. MIK produces an integer + A/B, where as beatunes and RE only produce the A/B (as in minor or major). am i missing something?
Almost positive that it couldn’t be space issues, because of this, taken from www.id3.org regarding v2 tags
“Since each frame can be 16MB and the entire tag can be 256MB you’ll probably never again be in the same situation as when you tried to write a useful comment in the old ID3 being limited to 30 characters.”
I don’t know about MIK and beatunes, but I do know that RE does integer and a/b, and/or key by letter and more complex modes like lydian, aeolian, and dorian. This can be changed in the Options > general > show advanced key information, and can be written in the comments or to the title in Options > Song > write key info in comments, write key info with title.
Yet again i find that it ios definately tracktor that is causing the issue. As long as i detect key before i drop the track into traktor its fine.
What i dont get is why others dont have this problem, is there a setting in traktor that i’m missing? Or does noone actually allow trackto to actuallly write to the id3tags ?
perhaps this will help?
