Traktor 2 froze???

I had a gig this past saturday and it was the first time to use the new Traktor 2 pro software with my Traktor S4 and while playing about an hour the software started freezing during my set! The music was still playing but the screen was frozen. Luckily there was another DJ beside that mixed in due to my problems. I’ve never had this issue on the Traktor S4 software. Any one else have or had this problem???

I have a 2010 MacPro, Mac OS X 10.6.7, 2.53 Intel i5,4 gb 1067 ddr3, 500 gb,

I had all programs closed except traktor and airport off. The memory is only 30 percent full?

i already play sets with enabled airport and the s4 and pro 2 never frozzzzzzzzze

What about bluetooth? Wifi and Bluetooth seem to be problem makers, but I use them both all the time with no problems.

Yeah, Turn off everything that can “ping” for a connection, they seem have an effect on the performance.

ahhh, was going to post my question in a new thread, but you guys answered it here:slight_smile: getting a MBP in a couple of days:smiley: and was wondering if there were anything i need to switch off before a gig:smiley: I guess there is no tweeking involved like my dell with win7?

Yes all of the above are important, they don’t always give you a problem if left on, but why take the chance?
Also, maybe check your prefs in Traktor - buffer size etc? From the look of your spec you have a more than powerful enough mac to cope!

i froze too..with tpro2 … not comfortable with this… any djtt pros know the answer?

One thing to check is your energy saver settings. Do you have it set to put the hard drive to sleep to conserve power?

EDIT: Couple more tips follows

  1. Always reboot your laptop before beginning a set. Generally your machine will be in sleep mode and it does not hurt to reboot after you wake it up

  2. Always turn off time machine if you have it set prior to beginning a set

  3. It would not hurt to disable bluetooth, wireless and screen saver and any other energy saver settings.

I have not had any lockups with TP2 and have about 40 hours of mixing into it so far.

I too have had TP2 freeze on me, although it hasn’t been a major issue yet since the audio was not interupted. The freeze lasted about 5-10 seconds. I think it is just a screen freeze because I was still able to control things with the S4. I have noticed this screen freeze every time that I open the settings/preferences window. While this hasn’t been an issue while performing it definitely makes me a bit worried. I had no issues with the S4 software previoulsy.

Are you guys on the older MBP or the new (2011)? Getting the new one next week, so i hope i wont have any problems=/

im freezing to, but im using my old macbook pro which it the 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, With 2GB Ram, 50GB free on the HD

Should i upgrade to a mac or get a windows based pc?

I’m getting random screen freezes and am using a new MB Pro, 2.4GHz, Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM and 287GB of HD space available. I have airport & BT turned off. All energy savings are turned off. As I said earlier I haven’t had any audio freeze, but this is still a concern.

The newer MBP’s have dual video cards in them. I wonder if somehow its switching back and forth and causes Traktor to go bazerk?
