So i’ve been a die hard Traktor3.2 user for a couple years now and each update since has left alot to be desired, which is why I’ve stuck loyal to version 3.2
I recently acquired a copy of Traktor Pro to test drive and so far I’m not very impressed with the product whatsoever. The stability issues make this product virtually unusable for playing out at clubs and parties. Also the added bells+whistles don’t really add much to the product, they definitely don’t make up for the faults. I think it is quite a tall order for NI to expect Traktor3 users to learn an entirely new workflow that still hasn’t been proven to be any better than Traktor 3’s.
Maybe I just need to give traktorpro a chance, but at this point I am not very convinced that it is a wise choice. I’d like to hear your guys opinions on the new version of this software and how it stacks up against previous versions. Cheers
it seems like a one-sided review in favour of traktor pro’s new features and fails to mention any faults. thanks for posting, but I didn’t find the review to be particularly helpful.
Im all for Traktor 3 (Point 4), Traktor PRO has some nice fx’s, love the loop/cue points box, and nice color scheme. But it has alot of issues that need to be addressed.
My main complaint about PRO is CUE/PLAY or CUP, seriously all I need to switch over is the “Legacy” CUE/PLAY when I hit it, not when I release it. Yes the release is the natural way to play a song, just like playing vinyl, but if I wanted that feel I would get Traktor Scratch PRO.
Yes there is a hack or work around but Im not going to drop a cue everytime I want it to work. BTW thanks ToS for the hack!
Now Traktor 3 has been out since late 05/06? Cant remember, but that 3 years of tweaking and updates (not always the best)
my main gripe with the software is that sure they’ve added some nice features, but they’ve also taken out many features that I loved about traktor 3.
What happened to the SLAVE button?
why is the BPM detector so sketchy now, it was rock solid in traktor3!
Also little glitches with the fx, for instance when I use the beatmasher it sometimes changes the pitch of the track…
I would NEVER use pro for one of my gigs, it’s atrocious!
It would’ve been nice if they just added the new features to Traktor 3 without doing a complete overhaul/remake of the software. The new features in TraktorPro just don’t make up for the ridiculous ammount of problems that it has.
yes I remember when traktor 3 first came out there were many problems, I guess thats why my version of choice is 3.2 . To me it is the most solid, and I did not like what they did to the fx section in the updates after 3.2.2 …
I hope they improve traktorpro in 3 years, but I’m not going to hold my breath. After all I’m still using a version of Traktor that came out in 2006…
um… what? Look, I know everyone loves bashing on TPro and everything, but when I got T3 it was reading tracks that are 150bpm as 135. Yeah, TPro grids a lot of tracks at half-tempo, but that’s a much easier fix than jumping around from 130-142 cause I don’t know the real tempo.
I’m not saying that TPro is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but still, there were a lot of problems with T3 when it came out and people said flat out they would never use it. Now those same people are saying the same thing about TPro. shrug
6 months from now I have a feeling a lot of people will be singing a different tune.
Tpro’s auto tempo detection is better than any other program i have used - its not perfect but it does a pretty good job most of the time so the only adjustments i have to make are atleast minor
Hey I’m not bashing TPro, I like it. I just don’t like the CUP feature. I still don’t feel to confident playing live with it that’s all. I would say in a couple of months its should be running rock soild for me…
there’s no argument that traktor 3 had bugs when it was first released. but that was then this is now.
Now Traktor 3 is the solid option, because TraktorPro is the new kid and is full of bugs. Also, I was not referring to how TraktorPro detects bpm at half time, i know it’s easy to work around that- that is not a bug that threatens my performance whatsoever. The double-time + half time button feature fixes that.
I can’t really make excuses to love TraktorPro despite it’s many REAL bugs when my reputation as a professional is at stake. Maybe you are more forgiving because you don’t DJ outside of your bedroom or care about your reputation?
So far everybody who is in support of TraktorPro agrees that it is buggy but are making excuses for it, maybe to make themselves feel better about shelling out $ for it before testing. I don’t know what the reason is, but it’s quite silly to defend a product that ONLY has potential and does not have stability.
^i’m not trying to be insulting here guys, but I could not fathom using a less than perfect piece of hardware/software for professional application. That’s why I am a little confused as to why people are defending an admittedly less than perfect software.
I can tell that TraktorPro has TONS of potential, but that doesn’t quite cut it when stabilitiy issues are present.
First of all, I didn’t pay for Traktor Pro cause I already had Traktor Scratch and Traktor 3, so I feel no ill will for what I shelled out, cause I didn’t. I can understand people’s frustration that did pay for it, though, but, in my mind, I would have paid for the upgrade if I had to and wouldn’t have looked back.
Second, while I’m not a huge famous DJ spinning in front of hundreds or thousands of people, but I spin live. And as I said, I spin on T3 cause I’m still figuring out my set up. My reputation does rely on my laptop security and my software security. I understand that. I’m not arguing with people who say that Traktor Pro has bugs, cause it obviously does for people (like you, who I spent 9 pages of threads trying to help).
But there are people who have no problems whatsoever. So there is a point where I have to say the stability issues fall back to the individual set ups, as well as NI’s need to do further testing before release, which I completely understand, and don’t debate.
I just get frustrated when people make these blanket statements that it sucks and they will NEVER use it. I’m sure everyone said that about T3 and they are using it now.
I have my gripes with TPro as well, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve recorded mixes, made mashups, and been able to use it pretty solidly so far. So when people say that others shouldn’t use it cause it doesn’t work for them, I’m sorry, it just peeves me.
And I feel the same way about people who bash Serato, Ableton, FL Studio, etc.. Especially while on a forum that is supposed to cultivate a culture that is still in its infancy, this kind of discource does no one any good.
(ps… I don’t mean any of this in an insulting manner to anyone. I don’t want to promulgate a negative attitude around here, so if I do, tell me and we’ll work on it from there. I know sarcasm doesn’t translate well over the internet, so, yeah. My disclaimer is done)
I am still using T3, but not because of the stability with TPro, because I have a consistent set up with T3, and I am trying to get a new set up with TPro I can be comfortable spinning with. Almost all of my work now, when I get home and start working, is done in TPro. Is it perfect? No. Does it crash? Yes. More than T3 did when I was using it with Final Scratch, or even when I got T3.3? No.
Ya i’m not a fan of T3.3 either, the fx section revamp was very dissapointing.
I much preferred how the fx section is in 3.2 which is the main reason I still use this version; not to mention it’s rock solid stability wise. The only time it ever gave me issues was when I was using a pirated copy on a subpar system. Now that I have a legit copy on a sweet new system, its just lovely!
