The master volume gain meter blinks red when you’re playing too loudly.
Can you make it so that the channel gain faders do the same?
I’m basically trying to make sure the track I’m about to mix is the same volume as the one I’m currently playing through the master. I usually achieve this by getting it as close as possible to the red.
It’s a shame you can’t see if each channel is clipping as I imagine auto-gain works like normalise in music production ie. it looks for the loudest part of the track and then takes that as loud as it can keeping everything else in proportion. What if you’re playing an old record that has a few pops and clicks in it?
When Traktor analyses a track it takes an average db and increases the track or decreases it to make it 0.0db. Its as effective as it can be i suppose and means you dont have to ride the gain in an old school kinda way.
All it does is make every track as close to 0.0db as possible.
I agree that better LED output to monitor each track would be a bonus. The Channel volume meters are next to useless in Traktor.
Thanks for the advice Karlos, the average gain thing sounds pretty sweet - almost too good to be true but having played around with it in a club last night I’m not convinced.
This said it was my first time playing with Traktor in a club environment and I was a little hectic so couldn’t totally take in everything that was going.
