Mac or pc? What version of tp2, updated or not?
traktor crash
hey guys
my traktor pro 2 has completely stopped working now, it loads up then crashes, it states traktor 2 has encountered a major problem and has to be teminated.
i have re-installed the programme, but that hasnt worked. im not sure what else to do. the only thing i have done on my laptop since it was working properly was de-frag it.
any ideas on how to fix this or has it happend to any of you?
cheers
pc and its 2.0.1
wtf? my post is at top? lol
do you get a ‘more details’ option when the box comes up after crash?
what audio interface are you using?
and what controller you using? if any, and when do you plug it in and turn it on?
my initial thoughts are hardware, e.g incorrect audio set-up depending on interface, or something from the controller.
or possible something in registry. we’ll cover the hardware before start exploring that ![]()
Whoooaaaa post order mind fuck. Brad, how did you reply 3 and a half hours before the question was asked!
You might need to uninstall and make sure your settings files are removed, but I’d get onto Karlos Santos about this. He tends to know about which individual files cause certain problems.
i use an audio 2 dj and kontrol x1. i dont get a more options on the dialog box, it crashes as it updates the collection, and at that point no hardware is plugged in.
i’m gonna take a shot at a dodgy audio files, or it doesn’t like the location you’ve got set in preferences.
do you have time to to cancel the update on start-up? and check your file locations in prefs
no as soon as the update starts its crashes, but i havent had any problems like this before, so i havent moved any of the audio files/folders around.
do you mean the consistency check? or just the normal update at bottom of screen on load?
ah sorry, its the loading collection dialog box.
ive just tried loading it again, it loaded up and said ‘your collection is invalid and has been renamed’ then boom. ERROR again.
how do i remove the settings files, im not a fan of rumagging through files and deleting things i dont know about.
have you tried importing traktor 1 collection.nml file?
i no longer have tp1 on this laptop, i un-installed it incase that was causing my problems. i can now see myself re-installing and using it again. ![]()
user\documents\native instruments\traktor [version]
could swap out tp2 collection file for tp1’s this way to
edit, didn’t see you got rid of tp1…
2nd edit, maybe rip out the collection.nml file from the settings stuff. make it load from fresh?
Copy your traktor settings.tsi file to a separate location then delete the original and restart Traktor.
i emailed NI and they said to delete the collection.nml file, i did it and it worked, but when i closed tp2 down it caused the error again, i then re-opened tp2 and it error’d again. i really dont know whats going on with this.
try removing file, then checking all your settings, for data location, and anything to do with checking/updating on start up. to be safe…
i removed the settings tsi. file then it loaded up fine twice, Then crashed on the third load. it had The same error as before. and nothing from NI since the first email they sent me at 11am ![]()
tbh, if it was me at this point…
i’d uninstall everything
then run a restore point from before tp2 was installed (should be made automatically if this is enabled)
then shift music collection somewhere else
then reinstall
check it boots ok with blank library and nothing to analyse/update
then close
then move music back to original location
then load up
then manually import the tunes by pointing the browser to the music folder and dragging them all to collection at top if browser tree
not saying this will def work, but it’s what i’d do
cheers mate, i will try this now im at my wits end with this. to top it off i just installed tp1 and that dosent work now either, it loads up but im unable to load a track into the deck…i dont understand what is going on. as theres no chance of anything wrong with my laptop, its used soley for traktor.
