Traktor Final Scratch 2

Traktor Final Scratch 2

So my buddy moved and gave me a bunch of his old DJ stuff. Among the loot was a Stanton final Scratch audio interface (the big box). On the back it says Traktor Final Scratch 2.

My google search said it was compatible with Native Instruments software. From wiki:

Version 2[edit]

Version 2 marks the introduction of both a new Scratchamp hardware device and different software compatibility.
This new Scratchamp made 24-bit/96 kHz digital quality playback and record possible. Stanton added an ASIO driver, and MIDI capabilities. They also replaced the USB interface with Firewire which was intended to reduce playback latency. The new Scratchamp was developed by Alan Flum, Len Bryan, Mark DeMouy and Jim Mazur.
The version 2 Scratchamp is compatible with Native Instruments Traktor DJ Studio versions 2.6 and through 3.2.0.85 (Mac). NI has dropped support of SA2 in favor of their own vinyl system Traktor Scratch.

Final Scratch Open[edit]

In late 2005, Stanton and Native Instruments ended their working relationship. Stanton still markets the ScratchAmp hardware as part of Final Scratch Open, introduced in early 2007. Stanton claims that the ScratchAmp can now interact with any audio software through ASIO or WDM on Windows, and CoreAudio in Mac OS X. Although all Windows and Mac audio software is ostensibly compatible with Final Scratch Open, there is no dedicated software program for deejaying with the ScratchAmp hardware.

So what can I use the interface with? or point me in the right direction…

and this thing is friggin fire wire…

Final scratch eh! the first time i ever saw a digital dj setup

I’d imagine, MIXXX, Virtual DJ, Mixvibes and Deckadance should all work with it for DVS … I assumme its this ?

Course you could try running Traktor 3 with it for kicks :stuck_out_tongue:

Thats the one.

It works with Rekordbox DVS. :-p

I dont know what to do to get around the firewire…

Cool piece of DVS history! You’ll need a firewire connection to your computer if you actually want to use the thing, and I think you could just treat it as a firewire sound card if you don’t feel like running Traktor 3  I can’t remember but I think there was some kind of Stanton- or Final Scratch- branded software that came with it originally (but it possibly had to reboot your computer into a shell to work).

As a sound card it’s likely not worth the trouble - I have endless problems with firewire sound cards - but it might be fun to play with.

USB to PCMCIA adapter. INsert PCMCIA firewire card.

I dont think my old dell 1525 can handle that.

Actaully going by the specs that Dell will take a faster Firewire express card

According to specs you laptop does have firewire?
“1 x IEEE 1394 (FireWire) - 4 pin FireWire”

Anyway, I don’t see the point of spending any extra $$$ on this (pcmcia card or similar) just to get a DVS solution when you can buy a SL1 card for $80 and just use SSL.

Is SSL even supported anymore?

is that what that small little port it?

and this would be the cable I would need?

I don’t intend on spending more than a few bucks to get it working. I just want to see if I can get it working and with what.

I have a copy of Traktor Scratch Duo and I want to see if I can get it to run with that. But then I need MK1 timecode.

Yup, that’s the one.

I hope you mean that “unofficial” way of making traktor scratch run (evil laugh)

Same as Traktor Studio or whatever officially works with that interface. I’ve read that (with some workarounds) people have succesfully installed SL1 and SSL on newer Mac OSs, seems like a better choice (and software) than to mess too much with this, that’s why I suggested it.

Makes sense. You can use the traktor workaround to use the final scratch soundcard or use rekordbox DVS as well.

You’ll need a separate PSU for the Scratch Amp if you use that cable…

power supply? Something else to hunt down…

Any 9V guitar pedal AC adapter will work. You can get one of those multi ones from FRYS or MicroCenter for around 10 bucks.

How do you set this up ?

Hi The_bastet ! Greetings all the way to the Queen city, I was wondering how did you set this up ? Can you help me ? I found a link to download the following drivers :

  • scratchamp_driver.zip = the old original driver
  • scratchampV.zip = the old original vista alpha driver
  • ScratchAmp_driver_v2.46_alpha.zip = modded driver based on the presonus fp10 v2.46 setup
  • ScratchAmp_driver_v5.13_alpha.zip = modded driver based on the presonus fp10 v5.13 setup

Which of this would work on windows 7 - 64bits i5?

Then how do you set it up inside rekordbox ? Also are you using Stanton Time Code or Pioneer Time Code vinyl ?

Finally how stable is it ? Can you actually feel any difference compared to other INTERFACE (serato or traktor)

Greetings and your help will be deeply appreciated !:slight_smile:
