I was wondering how to set volumes on the s4 in a club enviroment. I been at times when i setup. I have to max the s4 volume then turn up trim on the mixer.
What should I do when I setup my s4 in a club plugging into a mixer to gain effiiecent volume
As i said. I find when i connect ie DJM 800. I have to basically max my volume on the s4 and bring up the channel volume im hooked it into, then if thats not enough to where its good as the person whos ont he other channel using ie serato or traktor then the trims to increase
I want to know what is the best way to achieve good volume when using the s4
Boo Yah.
Best explanation out there. Bottom line is never go beyond 0Db on trakor. From
-10 to -6 seems the right spot. If you’re missing punch, gain it up. If there’s a decent sound engineer, he will know how to crank it.
My master was at -3.3db. I resset my gain back to -10.1 db It explains somewhat but it does say what should be done when u are connected to the mixer. Should I crank the gains on the channel on the mixer or on the s4 for example. It was helpful info.
From what I read in the comments, Master on the S4: -10 to -6
Gain to level your tracks, NOT to crank them up.
If you need more volume, gain up the mixer, but avoid clipping. If it’s not loud enough, engineer (therefore PA system) has to turn up. Basically, the latest in the sound chain must be the loudest.
Any specific tips on connecting Traktor S4 to an external mixer. My settings -
Traktor s/w master gain: -6db
S4 Hardware knob: vertical 12 o clock position
Mixer channel gain: 1/4 (9 o clock position)
Master volume: vertical 1/2 12 o clock.
I get an over powering bass and the master out doesnt sound right too much of hum. Despite of lowering the s/w master gain upto -15db doesnt help, have to cut the low on the external mixer and on s4’s mixer. Any help would be much appreciated. cheers - Facebook
My setup - Macbook Pro i7, 4Gb RAM. TPro 2.1.3 with S4, 4 channel Pioneer external mixer
