Turnable needles.
Looking for some recommendations for needles for my new turntables. I’m not looking to scratch with them but I mayst some point like too. I have heard everyone recommend ortofon but they make many different kinds. What are you opioins on a good all around pair of needles? My price range is anywhere from 50-150$ I would like to stay under 100$ if possible.
I’d recommend Ortofon Pro/Pro S or Ortofon Dj.
Shure M44-7’s are not made for mixing.

you can mix and scratch with it and it will have less record wear than the ortofons, which require more tracking force.
Or Shure Whitelabels, almost no record wear either

Ortofon hands down! Expensive but replacement stylus’ are cheaper compared to others on the market.
I was a little un-convinced at first about the needles for their price range, had a go on a set in the record shop and was SOLD! 
I prefer the Shures to the Ortofons. Though it depends which ortofons you’re looking at of course, but they do have a slight sound quality edge. But the Shures are more reliable in terms of record wear and they sound pretty damn good anyway.
And it’s a personal preference but I do not like Concorde style needles. You can get the Ortofons in regular style though if you’re like me that way. But I still prefer the Shures 
Go for Ortofon Elektro carts if you play EDM.
Best needles I ever owned where Ortofon scratch concords never had a needle hold the groove like them

Would not worry about record wear if your using timecode though timecode is disposable some real wax aint :eek:

I scratch with them mainly tho…Had the Stanton Scratchmaster V3’s…but they were destroyed…with my tone arms…on my old decks.
They were rock solid.
Dunno about the wearing of records tho…don;t use it that much to be able to notice.
I have a pair of Ortofon Concorde DJS that came with my Technics and they work just fine, not tried a lot of different ones though if I’m honest.
Not a word about how they scratch. Shame.

I’m pretty sure that from the perspective of a strictly techno / house music DJ certain needles produce a more quality sound than the 447’s, and to them it’s really important to have the bestest quality sound.
Personally, I like the durability of the 447’s, and for scratching they are fantastic.
However, they weren’t made for mixing…I just tried to mix two records with them and everything exploded. So gutted right now.
Honestly if you’re just using time code I wouldn’t worry much about needles at all. Cheap Stantons will do you just fine and save you a lot of money. Tracking is better in some needles so if you’re scratching a lot you want needles that won’t jump out of the grooves but sound quality is pretty much a non issue as is record wear.
I’ll be playing with mostly timecode but I may mix in a few vinyls. I have slowly been rebuilding my collection and have purchased about 500 records from record stores that were closing 
but at least I got what they had left.
