It’s a cool mixer, but I’m sure those functions can be performed within Ableton via routing in some form or another. Seems like a $2,000 version of this thing
I like that touch-screen cross-fading thing. That looks like the most usable feature out of the whole deal.
Yet it also looks like an 800 with an iphone running TouchOSC embedded in it.
Yeah, there’s that, too. If you use an effector, 4 channels, and Live – this is probably a great deal. Probably less cost than all 3 controllers, and way less real estate. Then again, some of the best DJ sets I’ve ever heard were with 2 vinyl turntables & analogue mixer, so… to each their own. ![]()
yeah it’s expensive, but for what it does it’s worth imho. and that’s the first pioneer product since efx500 i’ve said that about.
also, now trying to work out how to get some of that ‘frequency side chain 7 way x-fade’ action going in traktor…
guessing it would be doable in ableton using max though… bento?
wow, that’s really quite impressive.
You’d be stoked to be the lucky few who get to play with that toy!
First thing I thought of… ehh, bento… what’s your take?
Frequency assignable FX and a 7 frequency x-fader with ableton?
yeah, i’d love to see the frequency thing start to get integrated into software. looks quite usefull, although, in practice, I feel that minimal is going to be one of the few genres that can really take advantage of it.
erm… i disagree. in essence it’s just a fancy eq, which is used in all genres. think mash-up and it’s usable across everything.
I mean, I agree, in theory its definitly usefull, however, in practice, I bet it wont perform as well as you might think when you actually apply it to a genre thats NOT minimal (like was demoed)
i agree minimal is very friendly to these kind of things.
but if you use it in place of an effect during a transition it should work with most things
You gotta take your hat off to Pioneer. They’ve put a LOT of thought into this.
Awesome piece of kit. Far too expensive for me to ever get my hands on one, though…
James Zabiela is gonna have a field day with it.
think of all the echo feedback tricks he can do with this
Sorry got sick of people posting threads with like 2 or more paragraphs all in caps lock
Yup very easily, especially with a iphone\ipad you could make that thing ez
this whole thing gets a big yawn from me anyway shrugs
really? admittedly most of us can do almost everything this does on our fraction of the cost midi setups, but it’s still one of best bits of kit they’ve knocked out for a while
I’ll admit I think the efx 1000 is pretty amazing, but this one makes up for the lack of delivery on the cdj 900/2000.
Agreed…all in one box!
however, you then need to add 4 cdj2000’s to get the full benefit they planned, so make that around 8k…
its sooo impracticle, you cant take it to a club - it would have to be installed there, chances of going somwhere where its installed is slim to none. Id run circles around it with a vcm-600 and an iphone which are both way more portable.
