Ugh.. requested to do a top 40 night
Hey guys,
I just got to college and since I’m in a different scene, I’m working to build up some gigs, get a bit of a rep.
So, I just got asked to do a party at one of the frat parties on campus and I’m guessing I need some bullshit lady gaga remixes and all that kind of crap (not too much, just some.) Anybody know where to get some of these tunes?

Don’t forget to use the Genius in iTunes it does a pretty good job of recommending stuff.
That is normally where you find top40.. Try to find Electro house remixes of the songs. then you can mix in regular electro house between.. that way you wont feel like killing yourself.
If you don’t want to do a gig, I suggest you don’t. You’ll suck at it. Leave those gigs for DJ’s like me who know how to rock a pop-oriented crowd :-p
And for real guys, what the hell is wrong with mixing in some top 40? Some of you would rather eat a light bulb than play something on the radio, what’s up with that? Expand your musical worldview a bit, drop that Lady Gaga, Lady Saw, Mary J, Don Omar or Alicia Keys song into your mix. Electro is easy as hell to mix, and repetitive too, I still spin it…
Oh, I got to tell you that you should play lady gaga alehandro dave aude mix, ne-yo closer stonebridge club remix and they will all be happy for a while!!!

Top40 is the easiest genre to spin, because no one cares if you trainwreck. Just drop “Oh my God” mash the Fat Man Scoop “REMIX!!!” key and you are golden…seriously.
This track seems to get people dancing lately, and they have no idea who the Jackie Boyz are.
If you don’t want to spin top 40 then don’t, but it seems silly to complain about being offered a job or act like it’s a burden and then do it anyway.

I’m fine with doing it. It’s just I’m looking for some songs to buy for the gig. I’ve never done a top 40 night but I bought 4 or 5 songs that are top 40-ish and considering I’m only going to be up there for an hour I think that’ll be enough recognizable stuff to throw into the mix.

That was a hell of a lot of fun!
I ended up only dropping one top40 tune that only a few people reacted to. Mostly, people were just going bonkers for the prog house and electro house that i was playing with. Great time
