Using Filter knobs in VCI-100 as Volume controls

Using Filter knobs in VCI-100 as Volume controls

I’ve assigned the Filter knobs as volume controls for Decks C & D but they only come into effect from the 12 to 5 o’clock position. How do I get Traktor to utilize the entire range of signals from full off to full on? That means, around 7 to 5 o’clock.

its due to the 1.3 firmware its functioning like two knobs really. Not sure if you could get it to work how you want without going back to 1.2

Just an idea, im not too familiar with midi mapping, or the vci-100, but if it’s working like 2 knobs, cant you set it like this:

7-12 o’clock = knob 1
make knob 1 range 0-50%
12-5 o’clock = knob 2
make knob 2 range 50-100%

This way it would work like a single knob.

Can anyone with more mapping experience tell me whether it’s possible?

assuming it is 1.3fw, he just said vci, not se…
problem could be with how it’s been mapped. if using it for volume fader, then the interaction should be set as the one with fader/slider in the name. and set as direct. then it should work fine.
however if it is 1.3 then this…

will work

Thanks WickedSight. I’ll give that a try. Feel kind of weird to start off tracks from 12 o’clock.

It is a 1.3 SE, BradCee. Just that I don’t think of it as one since I’m using the original faceplate. Didn’t get the TechTools overlays because my entire housing’s painted so that USD29.99 would have either been wasted or wasted my paintjob.

Ok, tried it. It’s possible BUT you have to play around with the acceleration a bit too because if you leave it at 50% for both settings (same knob) and set acceleration to 0, you’ll only get a 50% control of its full throw.

I set mine at 25% for the 7 - 12 o’clock and 37% for the 12 - 5 o’clock position because I wanted more of a logarithmic change.

realtive mode?

why not direct? should just give full range, but then i wouldn’t have the same affect that how you’ve done it has

Don’t forget that mine’s with the 1.3 firmware and that effectively breaks the Filter pots into two separate ones. That’s why I couldn’t use Direct because that’d mean I’d use only half.

even if you set it to both parts? oh yeah, i just figured it out… oops
