VanGogo's S4 2.6 Mapping, Flux, Auto Gain, Key, and Fx 1-4 on/off (in mixer)

VanGogo’s S4 2.6 Mapping, Flux, Auto Gain, Key, and Fx 1-4 on/off (in mixer)

Simple little mapping I whipped up tonight using 2.6’s new override mapping capability. The purpose of this map is to utilize the new features in 2.6, add key control, and control of all 4 Fx on/offs in the mixer.

This mapping is for the S4 in 4 Fx mode with the stock mapping.

The mapping gives you the ability to turn on/off all 4 Fx units in the mixer for each deck. The Fx 1 and 2 buttons in the mixer section of the S4 turn on/off Fx units 1 and 2. The Master button (between Snap and Quantize) is mapped as a shift button so when held down the 1 and 2 Fx buttons in the mixer will now turn on/off Fx 3 and 4 for each deck.

Holding down the Master button will also display the auto gain setting, and allow you to change the auto gain setting with the deck’s gain encoder. Pressing the encoder with the Master button pressed will set Auto Gain to zero.

To turn on/off Flux mode press shift for the deck and the Fx mode button. This works for each deck, and you also still have the mode button’s normal function. The load led will light up to let you know Flux mode is on.

The Tempo Offset buttons have been remapped to increase and decrease the Key for the deck you are on. They will still light up to show the off set, but are now only used for changing the key value.

You will lose the Master button’s normal function and the Tempo offset buttons’ normal function with this mapping, as well as the led on the load button.

Let me know if you find any bugs. It is pretty basic, and I have tested it, but you never know.

There is a way you can make shift + cue NOT turn off/on the cue

I think you could implement it  if you need any help hit me up

First version of mapping used headphone cue for Flux on/off, this has been changed and the first post has also been updated
This isn’t a user mapping like Rainer’s in the video. This mapping uses the new override mapping feature. Either way though, if I override the headphone cue’s usage, when you get to browse mode you wouldn’t be able to use it to load a track without remapping the browse layer. Which I didn’t have time to do last night. I’m also not sure if I could remap the flashing bright/dim/off behavior that shows if a deck is empty/has a track/is playing. I’ll give it a go when I have more time, but the cue turning on/off doesn’t really bother me. It’s not like I’m going to turn flux on and off a ton. It would be nice to not have the extra button push when I do though.

Understood  I’m soooo grateful for the “override” function, I can finally achieve things which I wanted without losing the loop size display…

Great stuff VanGogo.

Can you please remove the player from your sig oakich.

Excellent work!

Thanks Jojo and Ed!

New and Improved!!!

Updated original post and mapping.

Instead of using the headphone cue to turn on/off Flux mode. You now use shift + Fx mode button. The Fx mode button retains it’s normal use. Because it doesn’t change Fx unit’s mode while shift is pressed(or anything else), it was a much better option than the headphone cue.

On a side note, the only thing I feel that would make this mapping perfect would be the Fx unit LEDs in the mixer giving proper feedback. But, because of the way NI made 4 Fx mode work on the S4, it isn’t possible.:rage:

I haven’t tried this, but how do you get the Flux mode on for decks C and D?

scamo

I added a modifier to both shift buttons (different for each side), and a toggling modifier to both deck swap buttons(also different for each side). The shift was so I could keep the mode button’s normal function and also have it control flux on/off since shift + Fx Mode does nothing in the stock mapping. The toggle on the deck swap button makes it so when you swap from deck A to C for example the Flux on/off will only affect the deck that you are currently focused on.

Ok, understand. Thanks.
