VCI-100 vs VCI-100se.. what’s the actual difference?
This is something which I’ve never quite understood.. perhaps you can help me!
What are the fundamental differences between the VCI100 and the VCI100se?
I really want one with arcade buttons, so I’m gonna pick myself up a regular VCI100 and mod it up with the new DJTT package - would that do the trick? or would I need a special edition?

The SE has firmware 1.3 and has black nobs and jog wheels. A non SE has firmware 1.1 or 1.2 and can have silver or black nobs and jogs.
You can upgrade the firmware and arcade any vci.
ahh right. You know the firmware upgrade on the djtt store, what exactly is it? the mod i mean..
they got different colors as well..
1st SE was white/blue .
the current is blue/green,
and the normal silver one has orange/green buttons..
somewhere i read that the SE has better button quality too..
If you buy the SE from somewhere other than DJTT I don’t think it has the 1.3 firmware. Just something to keep in mind if your thinking about it.
is the SE different from the black LE that you can buy on htfr etc?
You can’t buy the SE from any where other than DJTT. Vestax ship only the following models:-
Silver or Black
Originally with 1.1 firmware, now with current models shipping 1.2
The colour or firmware version in these cases, does not signify ‘SE’. Thats purely down to the 1.3 firmware available from this site only.
and what does the firmware 1.3 upgrade actually do?
The newer firmware version fixes bugs from the older versions. (like button or fader problems)
An example of a problem you might encounter with an older firmware would be an action not working correctly when your pushing a fader and another button at the same time. I hope this is clear enough.

so essentially, if I bought a bogstandard black VCI and got the firmware upgrade + the DJTT layout + the TSI - i’d have myself an se?

I purchased my black VCi LE from HTFR and it has firmware 1.1!
Eww, i thought all the black units came with 1.2 ? Obviously not !

Yes indeed you would.
You don’t need an overlay tho, unless you plan to use a DJTT tsi file.
My kit arrived 2 days ago.. 10 minutes later, the upgrade was done.. so simple.
10 mins.. pretty nifty with a screwdriver! I think i will use the DJTT tsi.. it seems pretty good, no?
I personally can’t get used to tsi 2.2! I use the old 1.7
I’m currently stil running with my own modded tsi, as I don’t use overlays at present.
As for 10 minutes.. now I know what to do, without having to watch the youtube vid, I reckon you could do the whole upgrade in under 3 mins
