VCI-400 Mapping Problems. Help!

Hi guys,
I started mapping a Vestax VCI-400 from zero, I´m close to finish it and i´ll gladly share it with you.
but i have this 2 problems right now:

  1. The PFL (headphones monitor) Button not synchronized with Traktor 2.
the buttons PFL from deck C and D

( in tractor: Ch05 & Ch06 - Note.F-1 ) do not light up same time with the ones in traktor. Pressing the button on the controller makes it light up, same as in traktor. but pressing it second time, powers off the one on the controller but the one in traktor stays lighten. the headphones respond to the traktor command not to the controller. so i have to press one more time to turn it off in the software and to stop hearing it in headphones, but now it is lighten (on) on my controller. is really annoying!
(i have to mention that i did not map any “OUT” command to this buttons, they were lightning up and shut down since I had 0 commands in my mapping. I tried mapping “monitor cue on” but with no success. A and B working fine!)

  2. this second problem is a bit more complex. its about the 8 Loop/Sampler Section Buttons

    .
I have them map like this:
    the upper row (4 buttons): loop size select +set: 1st button = 2bars loop, 2nd button = 4bars, 3th= 8 and 4th = 16 bars.
    the 2nd row (next 4 buttons :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ): mode selector: 1st button = Loop, 2nd = LoopIn, 3th= LoopOut, 4th=BeatJump.
the problem is I can’t make them light up independently. if i put an “OUT” command for the loops, all 4 buttons light up when a loop is active, and all turn off when no loops active. i want them to turn on according to their loop size. if i press a 2bars loop, only that button to be on, not all 4.
and on the bottom row, is aprox the same problem. i can’t have only 1 button LED on. they are always 2,3 or all 4 ON if i press one of them. i got to a maximum of 3 buttons to work independently but i can’t figure out how to make all 4 of them work.

this might be a crazy thing to ask on a forum but what i need actually is someone who knows the Controller Range and Midi range tweeks for each button (i guess).
thanks a lot!

I’m gonna take a shot at some of these, but be warned I’m not 100% sure so don’t flame me.

  1. If you’re making a custom mapping, the PFL problem you’re having seems to be related to the type of button you have selected. Try cycling through Toggle/Direct modes. I think that’s your problem, but sometimes these things aren’t as direct as they really should be. You might have to come up with some sort of workaround using modifiers if this doesn’t work, but I’m almost convinced this is your issue. (It also could be the blend button.. check to make sure this isn’t checked.)

  2. Deck Common > Move > Mode Selector. I haven’t used this, but it seems like 0-3 is your range, which I would guess means 0 is Beatjump, 1 is Loop.. etc. I can see a few different options for this that MIGHT work for what you’re talking about, but when custom mapping without having your controller in front of me it’s difficult to give exact advice.

*I’m not entirely sure that there is an exact out command for the beatjump/loop in/loop out, but this is another thing you can actually customize using modifiers. Say for example you press your Beatjump button, if that triggered Modifier 8 to 1-4, you could assign the out to display when modifier 8 is in a certain range (i.e. Loop = 1, so when Modifier 8 is in “1”, it sends an out. This is less ideal, since it’s not directly telling you that you are in that mode, just that you pressed the button to change the mode, so you run the risk that you think it’s in beatjump and it’s not, but in my experience this is rare. (Probably way more than you asked for, but try this only if you are still having problem 2!)

Hope this takes care of it, but if not we’ll help you keep troubleshooting.

thi3ves, just a quick heads up.
I had to remove the soundcloud player from your signature since they are not allowed.
Please use the hyperlink instead, that would be fine.

Thanks!

  1. Try getting button interaction mode to “Hold”. Currently it sounds like you’re dealing with hardware button toggle.

  2. As thi3ves said the modifier output commands can be used to power on LED’s where you find those button options missing or not possible with primary function of that buttons.
