You guys have any tips/experience on removing the knobs/faders on a Vestax midi controller?
I have a Vestax VCM-100 but it should be rather similar to the VCI-100. I have tried tugging on them carefully but they don’t seem to budge. I don’t want to damage the controller.
I just get a thin but strong piece of string, tie a not (so its a circle), put it under one side of the knob, then twist it, and do the same for the other, sort of like a figure of 8 so the string is on both sides of the knob then just pull up on the string and pull the knob off…
Voice of experience: be VERY careful of large knobs! Large equals lots-of-torque. You can easily rip off the plastic shaft of potentiometers from hitting the end stops (which you don’t feel well due to the increased leverage).
But by all means go for it if this is the way you need to go, the above is just a friendly warning.
