Since the mapping functions goes on, I update the prezi of my VMS4 mapping in a more readable way… Hope it suits you. I have to fix some little issues, to map the hotcues (not realy hard compared to the rest ) and to had a third JogFX setting (gater->lofi->filter 92 with some buttons presets fir the gater) and I’ll release a first beta, if anybody is interested in :
Try it and then explain me what you did and how it works. I’m gonna improve this feature as much as I can. As Vms4 jogs send message in a weird way, I map them with two reset (one by holding shift and turning the jog, then waiting the midi signal to be off, and the other by turning jogfx off and pressing the presets button, wich is also a “reset button”).
out of the ballpark! The jog wheels respond great with your settings. Its sort of a complex mapping, so I really haven’t gotten the full feel for it yet, but ive been waiting for a mapping like this. The one thing I would really like to see, is instead of the tempo faders being used for loops (which is a great idea btw) is using them to control one of the effects. Ill probably have more time to play with it later, Ill get back to you tomorrow after work…sorry I have strange work hours.
Leave it to the French! First one of my fav artists Justice, now you! The mapping god!!! Thank you so much!!! I want to get use out of my VMS4, but its not the controller i thought it would be.
Oh and your manual on how to use it is awesome!!! Everybody should do that when they map a controller.
Ill post more tomorrow.
Wow… that’s an hell of a feedback glad to see you like the mapping. I’ve fixed a few modifiers (one of the 14 modifers of the mapping, and the number will grow, as this is just the quarter of it).
When it will be over you’ll see a lot of the reason why I splited the mapping in two parts : there’s so much function that I wanted man can use on different decks in the same time.
ok sorry i have been MIA on this. After a second look I found some things that I would change based on my personal taste.
I like the different modes, and the led color mapping is awesome.
Each mode seems to have a lot of the same functions…but I maybe able to modify them (I suck at modifiers LOL)
Also the effect preset mode is a little tricky, maybe you can explain how you did it so we can add our own.
The Jog wheel sensitivity is pretty much the best I have seen, so thats awesome, but Id love to see you add the ability to use the tempo fader with the jog wheels to control effects. Maybe take away loop control on one of the modes.
But if you are able to add more combos, maybe ean goldens, I would say give it a try. It seems like it always reverts back to the echo freeze combo…Im still getting the feel for it though.
Thanks again for this mapping, Ill be checking for updates.
Feel free, considering the CC Licence : Please give the credits for your mapping if you slightly modify it and share it. If not, I’ll not publish the next versions and keep them to me.
If you liked it, you’ll like next version. I fixed some broken modifiers and worked a loooooot on the led mapping, making the layout clearer, and blinker… A hint : All channel as his own viewmeter with his own color considering if they are in loop or not or in red/purple/blue modes…
I map common few functions on all mode so you can do a lot of common things without changing modes, but that if you wanna do something special, you’ll have to change mode.
The fx preset mode is changing. Next version has fixed it.
If you suck at modifers, run away! there’s something like 16 modifers in the mapping (and the only way I found to map more than 8 modifiers was to copy the 4 main modifiers in all the mappings, and to map 4 more modifiers in each mapping). If you want more info, please ask…
Jog wheel sensitivity was one of the thing I wanna realy work on. I tweak till I found that one rotation of the jog corresponds to 266% of the knob in relative mode. When you found that, you can do whatever you want…
Again feel free to modify. If you want to, don’t forget to give credit and attribution if you share derivative work. I advices you to map this control on the touchstripes. I won’t use it because I dislike the touch… So you could totaly use it without any modifiers problems.
I fixed a minor bug in the echo freeze, wich is the echo freeze from the midifighter.
I already map the classic beatmasher combo(retroengeneried, not copied),and working on the gater/lfo/lofi combo effect from instant grat’ mapping.
Next version 0.4 is done at 75%. Led mapping on the right size is ongoing. I’ll publish it when it’ll be ready.
I loaded Traktor Pro 2 for my VMS4.1 but the jog wheels are not working properly. Do you have mapping for Traktor Pro 2 for VMS4.1? I hope you can help. Thanks.
What do you mean by Not working properly?
I guess you read that this mapping is focused on controllerism and that I didn’t map the vms4 jog on pitchbending or scratching intentionnaly.
If jogweel effects are off : jogweel moves the beatgrid. If jogfx are on, jogweels are mapped to manipulate fxs.
Do you have something different?
Btw, id you merged mappings with mine and share it on other plateforms, please consider the cc licence and show attribution or the next release will be the last.
Dôme other vms4.1 owners found no issues on jogweels, except some modifiers issues that are fixed in the upcoming version for a better workflow.
New version is uploaded…
You can check the files on my facebook page there :
Enjoy!!!
This time there’s a huge update on leds mapping with VUmeter for each deck blinking in different ways wether you’re in loop or not and you’re in one mode or another…
To Just Friday, I really need your help i have a Working VMS4 that i use With VDJ and Traktor i just bouth a LPD8 to use in conjuntion with the VMS4 in Traktor to have a better control of everything but can not find a good presets + mapping for the LPD8 can you Help me and explain to me how add this new controller in traktor without messed up with mi actual mapp for the VMS4 thanks!!! Djuanlarocca@hotmail.com
It realy depends of what you want to do ne whhat are those two mappings:-$
Here’s three basics questions you should ask yourself :
1 what are the similar functions between my two mappings, what do I have toi suppress.
2 is thre settings wich are gonna screw both mappings (modifier, fx settings,…)
3 do I have some other way to do it with only one controller?
Then, ou have toi draw and write a lot before doing anything.
I’m sorry I could only give those général advices since I don’t know what you want to do exactly… what does the vms4 already? what the ldp8 will do?
