What do you do during tracks?

Hey guys,

So as most of you know I have my own radio show that I DJ on every Thursday and I have a uStream camera always pointed at my S4 and today Itajen made a comment that i’m extremely boring to watch, and at first I didn’t think or care about it. Then after my show I actually played at a local bar tonight and I realized that mid track I really don’t do much. I only start doing shit to transition in and out of tracks.

I was curious what do you guys do during tracks?

Agreed, look busy or just bop to your tunes …make it look like you’re feeling the stuff you play, people tend to vibe off a DJs body language as much as the tunes in my opinion

or… you could just pick out a hot babe from the crowd to entertain you mid tune :wink:

if you look like your having a good time then your audience will be having a good time

but seriously, look busy, bop, dance, make eye contact with punters - give them a nod or a thumbs up or something when you’re doing it

if you look like you are having fun, it makes all the difference with the atmosphere of the place.

No I was just wondering in general, he just happened to mention it before when I was playing on the radio as well. I do all the other jazz, I was just wondering if you guys actually did anything technical during tracks or just danced and crowd surfed Aoki style and what not.

I ride the pitch for two minutes, search for the next tune, tweak the eqs, play with the filter and generally prance around in joy (Ricardo style).

I dance around, grab my buddies and sing along, do mixes and just have fun. I’ve learned two things about being an active DJ. If I make a fool of myself others are more likely to make fools of themselves, and if I’m not having fun there’s no point in being there.
