What do you think about making an ‘all originals’ set?

Hi everyone,

I am super new here but I’ve been wanting to get this conversation started for a while. I’ve been producing and DJing for almost a decade and a half putting releases and mixes out for various labels and crews. I wanted to challenge myself to do something different that would push my boundaries further, and so for the last few months I’ve been working on something that im finding really cool.

I am producing an entire 60 min mix set (house, techno) from scratch. I am producing every single track to create a 60 min journey that will showcase my current tastes in house and techno music and the kinda music I want to play moving forward.

I was curious to know what people might think about this project? DJing is an art form where we play other people’s music and there could be a lot of debate around it but I’d like to know what you guys think!

Also, what would be some legitimate ways to promote/market this project when its done? (I’m half way there already)

I’d love to get you guys thoughts on this and be part of this community by contributing and engaging as much as I can

I love to hear originals sets. Is you plan to mix already mastered original tracks or to use a hybrid setup and mix your originals on the fly?

So I’m creating tracks specifically for this set that I probably wont ever release. And then recording a continuous mix with them. I started out with a basic structure of how I wanted the mood to be and its been a lot of back and forth. So many things have changed since the first conceptualization of it.

It’s also helped me extensively navigate so many different genres of electronic music and bring elements from them into this set like Acid, funk, disco etc.

My aim with this set is to showcase my versatility as a dance music producer as well as challenge myself to be able to play an eclectic sound moving forward.

just got done with this and really excited to share it. see what you guys think!
