What do you use for audio backup?

So… im going to say its safe to assume most of us here do a good amount of DJing in the technological world. And with technology one can face a plethora of problems! Computer and software crashes, hard drives dieing, fried motherboards, broken midi controller.

I am going to be relying heavily on technology (my VCI-100SE, computer, soundcard) during my first gig at a school-dance… so I would like to know:

What is everyone doing for their back-up situation… in case something happened to go wrong.

i always have a cd with a mix with me, if there is no cdj i still got my ipod with some mixes (not the best solution but it helped me one time)

Yeah cds… and that ipod idea is not bad. Better that than having nothing…

Yea i also carry Cd’s, I have a American DJ MCD-510 this still allows my to beatmatch songs tempo key etc., and make the best of it.

A good idea is , if you have made a Set for the nite, burn the set to cd and then your not screwed if the laptop fails.

Im lucky that all the venues i regularly do have MP3 enabled CDJs so i burn the whole set to 1 Mp3 CD , make second copy and have them loaded in the CDJs as backup.

I also take a second laptop but i know thats not a reality for most people.

The funny thing is i still do this every week despite never having had one crash live ever.
It just makes sense to have a backup.

i use little brother! or if he is also incapacitated we’ve always got the pod hooked up to the mixer.

normal gigs - back up CD or iPod cued & ready to go.

Very important gigs - 2nd laptop, midi controller & soundcard set up & ready to go.
