What is the best city in the world? …for a DJ/party goer…
Well not for you all to take out your REPRESENTZ flags but where you feel the DJ occupation as well as the nightlife is the greatest?
All I have been is to the USA. I lived in NYC and people there are kinda cunty. The gig must be over 25 ID so people be halfway decent. Plus it’s hipster galore and the head-to-toe looks you get can really bother you in the end. Plus it’s expensive as hell. I never spinned there. Day life there is just too hectic. Lived in Miami for a year and is a bit better once you get to know where the fist pumpin’ bros hangout. You can find your niche and be good but not I-want-to-live-there good. Spinned a couple times there and is ok. Lived in North Carolina for a year and became friends with the deers and rabbits nothing ever happens there. Non existant club culture.
And Im currently living in Puerto Rico and love the weather. Theres a gig pretty much every weekend and the locals are pretty good but is just too small. You get to hangout 10 times and youll end up meeting everyone. I met my partner here while DJing and since it’s so small you kinda like pretty much end up going around the block rather easily if you know what I mean. You can get infamous pretty quick… plus crime here is crazy.
So DJTT, Where you feel it’s a good city to live with a great nightlife/DJ friendly?
ive never been there, but from what ive heard from friends and seen in videos, the la electro scene must be crazy unfortunately its a long way from eurooe :l
Where ive been: Frankfurt, Berlin, Amsterdam .. and some unknown places
Amsterdam was quite nice, but at Frankfurt and Berlin I only found this stupid minimal sh. in the clubs that were not all f’d up.
Also the Cocoon in Frankfurt now is the fistpumper-spot no.1 in germany, so i dont like to go there neither.

Haven’t been, But i heard that place called ibiza is meant to be quite a spot
[/quote]I also hear it’s just a seasonal thing…
Agreed. I reaaaaally want to go there, you wouldn’t even believe!!!
Up my way (Newfoundland, Canada) there is literally 2 after hours bars on the whole island!! And they play nothing but electro, house and tech house. You will never hear anything deep, techno, or trance EVER. But I dont really care because I prefer electro and house anywas haha.
The house culture is pretty rich given the population tho, alot of DJ’s like this place for what it is. Lots of big names have been here Deadmau5, Wolfgang etc. and people are willing to pay good money to see them. I guess thats what it all comes down too. But in all reality we just dont have the population and the economy here is not up to par with alot of other places in Canada, so big expensive clubs are pretty much non-existant for the most part.
1.Los Angeles (just bigger better and friendlier)
2.Paris(Sick club city)
3.London(The people live for their clubbing here)
4.S.F (Like L.A but not as friendly)
5.Berlin (Great club culture and music producing city, from what I’ve heard, been to all the other places)
+1 for Ibiza!! The clubs are on a different level.
Not seen one mention of Miami for the WMC - that place rocks - albeit for a very short period of time.
And being from the UK i also have to mention that some of the cities in the north of England also know how to party… and hard!!
I’ll throw in my home, Tokyo, for the following reasons
No last call (anywhere… you can go buy booze at 5AM on your way home)
Japanese pay up, so top talent always comes here. Womb Adventure is tomorrow (Plastikman, Carl Craig, Dexpistols, etc.) and Dubfire is coming in about 2 weeks. And that’s not even the summer.
Local talent is still pretty good, although I miss the guys from the old days
Downside (or upside for some) is you can smoke anywhere too, so you will always reek of cigarettes when you get home.
It’s got to be London. Us brits drink like no others. However that can be a bad thing. The drinking age is 18 people normally start about 16. Well the hot girls get in at that age. SoHo in London is nice and cheap. Then you have other areas that are alot more pricey. However you generally get what you pay for. You can also find every type of music you can dream of. Detroit Techno sir, I know just the place.
However there are many other great music cities in the UK. Liverpool is a prime example. I think a rather famous band came from there??!! lol. Manchester is also a pritty good place.
I am personally from Leeds aka student city. I think the club culter is pritty rubbish here. It is pop most places you go. However most nights you can find somewhere decent.
I have personally never been. But know many people who have.
Iv been told to get into any of the superclubs in San antonio i.e Eden, amnesia ect is 20e+ and that a bottle of water for example is 7e.
Personally i would not be willing to pay these prices. Well i would have no problem paying the cover charge if the acts, djs are what i want to see. But 7e for a bottle of water is ludacris.
Their are however many free ‘underground’ clubs i hear
NYC was amazing back in the mid 90s to early 2000. Then everything went into this stupid popularity contest of bottle service and smaller venues. Larger venues closed due to drug related issues and other offenses.
i only know my own town i never travel so GO MONTREAL !!
Yea nurve most big club i knew in my town closed too because of drugs and racial problem. The only big thing left is the STEREO were we get huge dj from around the world. Its have a nice barrier against all the bad stuff since its labeled as a gay club (all the hostest woman go there and no racial problem ever). Best sound system in north america !!
Ya I have friends living in LA and no one wants to leave. Theres this movie calles The Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down which was filmed there and takes a lot from the scene.
I would love to go to London and/or Berlin but I only speak English and Spanish and if I go there I might want to stay for a while getting a job or somethig. That may be a bit hard thou.
