What should I buy??

What should I buy??

So guys I’ve made a couple mixes and sent them out to a couple local clubs trying to get my name out but now I’m stuck!! I have a numark mixtrack, midi fighter, and a launchpad but I have no idea what I need to play a show. I’m assuming my mictrack is essential but what do I use to route it out??? I mean I have a head phone jack for an AUX cord but that isn’t very professional and I’m assuming a club would be a little better than a ratty old boombox. So anyone that can help me please do. I would very much appreciate it.

The Traktor Audio 2 is a decent entry level sound card that will suit your needs.

Do you not pre-cue on headphones yet? Do you have decent headphones suitable for DJing?

you’ll need a soundcard and access to a mixer so you can practise cueing.

The Mixtrack is more than good enough as a mixer for practice, as well as low-end gigs.

true, its not the same as the mixer he will have to run through though right.

Well I assume the Mixtrack is handling track transport in the setup, so you’d just connect the Master Output of the soundcard into a free channel on the house mixer and not use it for actual mixing.

yep, my first controller was an i-mix ce (don’t laugh) … i just used a free channel on the mixer and monitored from my desktop soundcard (yes, i lugged a friggin’ desktop around)

as you mention mate, the audio 2 would be a good start for the op

I just looked at the Audio 2 and thats awesome I’m glad you showed me that because I would’ve just saved up and bought an expensive one like the Audio 6 or 10. And I have no idea I have a pair of bose headphones but I’ve never tried to pre cue the best mix I’ve really ever done is on my soundcloud and I didn’t use pre-cues. Here’s a link tell me what you think.

Most clubs will want mixes of more then just 3 minutes, are you sure you’re ready to fill, say, one hour with DJing?

I made that for friend for her school project thing, but I mean its just a start. I was just using that as an example. But you listened to it? How’s it sound to you? good so far or no?

Traktor Audio 2 is the way to go for something small and that you can rely on. It’s what I bring with me when I just carry an X1 to play around wherever I am.

You really can’t tell anything from a 2-minute, 3-track set, mate. Make at least a 30-minute one and then you can get a real opinion cos so far we only really know that you can use a crossfader.

patience.

I agree with that. There’s a lot more to DJing than just adding some cool dubstep tricks here and there and then changing a track with the cross fader. It’s great that you’re already thinking ahead but if you do get booked right now and you’re not ready to do an hour or two of mixing, you might never get booked again.

Thanks man. It means a lot that you are looking out making sure I don’t mess up in the beginning. Usually I Just get douchebag responses. But Forreal thanks. I’ll keep practicing. And hopefully get better. Again thank you guys.
