What Turntable to buy?

What Turntable to buy?

I am looking for turntables not wanting to spend over $400 for one i am thinking the numark ttx what do you all think? I will be scratching a lot to.

hit craigslist for Technics 1200’s. Shouldnt run you more than $250 for one in perfect condition. They will seriously last a long time.

craigslist could u send me a linK?

I have a pair of Stanton T.62’s and while they are entry level direct drive turntables they do the job just fine for me, just make sure you get some real slippery mats. They were $250 Canadian I believe.

I have one TTX, is has a good motor with a decent torq. It isn´t a 1200 though… The torq isnt as good an the engine lacks a bit of power compared with the 1200. Also the arm is bit lighter. I don´t scratch much but the TTX can pull the job defently. It is a good TT no complains but if you can buy a 1200 go for it . The other thing is that the TTX is very light and it is suceptible to needle jumps on party enviroments, the 1200 are heavy and steady. Both of them will require nice cartridges and scratch needles obviously for your purposes.

i think i’m going to go for the 1200 thanks!

Go with technics

I,m a heavy scratch dj ,I ve had my technics for about 9 years, if you don’t mind buying good used technics from craigslist for about $400-$600 for the pair, then do it,if not numark’s are ok.

how does craigslist work lol i couldn’t find any haha

I went on and searched for technics on craigslist.com, and found great deals on a pair of technics ,mixer and coffin for $750 I tried Los Angeles, Chicaco,NY and phoenix and they all had technics for sale ,most of them were sold as the set (mixer & two turntables ) This website is world wide so you can get great deals anyware.Just simply log in to craigslist type in your state or country and go under musical instruments and type in technics and chose the deal you like and go check out the gear .

make sure the sellers are willing to ship out to you, though. the beauty of craigslist is that there’s no shipping involved usually because it’s like a localized eBay. a lot a listings require pick up of the item, so just double check.

btw. the pic i have posted is the numark tt500 not the ttx…it´s a good turntable, you will get 2 of them for about 500eur´s…!

FYI: Determining the age of an SL-1200

Here is a link to the Wiki 1200 page. When I was looking for some used 1200’s this helped me determin how old they were… aka find out if the seller is lying about how old the tables are.

Seriously, you can try all the turntables out there these days, and NONE will compare to the Technic 1200. Until I recently upgraded to the 1210M5G’s, I was using the same pair since '94, and I bought them used. No problems with the others, I felt I “deserved” a new pair. Vestax and others have come extremely close to duplicating the Tech, but haven’t done it. It’s all in the Torque. They’re all trying to emulate the Tech, so why not just get Techs. You’ll be happy you did.

Vestax PDX-2000MKII

What’s the difference in Technics between the different “mk” after the 1200?

STANTON STR-8 150, best tuntable i have ever used for scratching.

blows tech 12’s out of the water

Impossible. Tech 12 is man’s greatest and most perfect creation.

how about making a “poll” out of this thread…

You must have not used Techs for long brother…because that’s impossible. The Stantons are nice turntables, but you better not go outside when it’s raining, as you may be struck by the DJ gods lightning.
