What would u do IF you had 5k

I got most everything I really want musically. Maybe a Chaos pad or something, I could use that 5 grand for other things though.

CDJ 900 NXS, Used DJM 2000, some Behringer speakers, light set up from cheaplights.com in Houston

like the ideas im thinking bout cryo gun & a tank to start fx business or cdjs 900 or 2000 but that wouldn’t leave much room to get anything else & promo maybe a maschine & power amp for my speakers i just don’t know which one to get first

Could Hire a reputable marketing firm that has the right contacts in the industry and willing to take a cut…

or

Pay out $1000 to get a decent promo website built with content outlaying the HUGE clubs and festivals that I’ve astounded crowds, not to mention the upcoming tour dates (all marked as sold out), and photoshopped images being buddy buddy with celebs and big names.
Pay out another $500 for Social media Shares / sound cloud listens
Pay out another $500 for a snazzy photoshoot complete with jesus poses and wind in my hair …
Pay out another $2000 to individuals to buy my debut single from beatport, get in their charts and become an overnight success.

The other $1000 you ask? .. Its for rent when all the above fails miserably.

Although looking at it, I wish I thought of doing it before !!!

I really can’t see how buying a new mixer will help you achieve your goals. Clubs have their own kit, you don’t need to take your own, and being proficient on pro equipment isn’t enough to make more money of further your career.

To make more money - that’s an easy one - put on some club nights. No one’s going to book you unless you can draw a crowd, so the easiest way to get exposure and make cash is to do it yourself. With that sort of budget you can really hit the ground running.

To further your career, you’re going to need to put out some tunes. Personally I’d use the money to book session musicians (keyboard players, percussionists, guitarists, vocalists etc), a songwriter (pay them a flat rate not a percentage or royalties), and book a studio with an engineer to do the recording, and the mix down and mastering. Whilst not strictly essential, hiring professionals will cut years off your learning curve and really raise your game. Being in a proper studio is really fun and inspiring too!

Other things to consider are a stylist, photo shoot (with models?) PR / marketing agency (great to help you with your social media campaign) making videos for your tunes, a website, or maybe even an app?

Examine how X factor winners are “processed” after they win, and try and do the same thing. There’s a formula, and it works!

When the calls start coming in you can be saying " I’ll send you my press pack right now, and check out my new tune and video - rather than thinking “sh*t do I know anyone who’s good with a camera? Maybe I should make some tunes”

Oh and remember that it’s hard on the way up, remember why you’re doing it, and keep it fun!
Good luck!!

A nice analog synth like a moog subphatty or something, a TR-8 for sure, a big ol subwoofer and subpac for my home studio (bedroom) and maybe some sweet effects pedals or modulators to fuck around with. That’d be it for producing, the rest comes with time & commitment not money.

The rest would go to renting out sound systems and lights, and having a good ol’ time playing out with friends at local clubs and parties while trying to get famous.

Alternative plan: Spend the whole 5 g’s on a techno road trip to Europe and have the time of my life. Who knows, maybe i’ll end up saving Chris Liebings life at a train station and get signed onto his record label?

I did have 5K … its all sitting in the corner with a sheet on it :stuck_out_tongue:

Annnnnnd we’re back to mail order brides :stuck_out_tongue:
