What's a good controller setup with analogue mixer?

What’s a good controller setup with analogue mixer?

So I want to still use my analogue mixer with traktor but instead of beatmatching with cdj’s, I want something else, are there alternatives?
I want to run 4 decks also.

Two Kontrol X1s or wait a few months and grab two Xone: K2s. Can’t really beat X1s right now and the K2 will have a bit of an edge when it comes out.

how do I nudge it like the cdj jogwheel to pitch bend and how do I adjust the pitch?

The X1 has pitch bend and pitch adjust buttons. I am actually liking the buttons better to adjust pitch than any of the midi controller pitch sliders I have seen. Also I never really find the need to nudge tracks when I am using midi, I might just adjust the grid.

How about a pair of Denon SC2000?

Exactly. I used the 2000s for a bit and they were very useful when I did breakbeat/mixed bag type sets. For house and techhouse sets I used one X1 and keyboard as the 2000s were pretty much redundant on my tightly gridded tracks. The firmware Denon released fixed my issue with them but since leaving the States I haven’t been playing out and have mine up for sale.
BTW I had a Xone:92 and audio8 with the 2000s…'twas a sweet setup.

how are the x1’s as far as beatmatching with them?

the sc’s look interesting but im lookin for something smaller

there’s not much point in beatmatching on X1s, just use sync, then use the nudge and pitch to fine tune.

As if no one said midifighters or mfp. 2 would be good using the deckalized mapping.

I think Xonetacular has hit the nail on the head. For Traktor, X1’s or K2’s are gonna be the way to go.

For me - it’s just a case of being able to do what I want with the controllers I have. That means having enough knobs, faders and buttons at hand for any custom mappings.

I use Ableton Live - so for me, a Launchpad and a UC-33e gives me everything I need. And it’s completely customisable (personal mappings). If I ever get any spare cash, I’d add an MPD32 to the set-up.

For out of the box useability, the X1’s are well supported…

if you want to beatmatch tracks manually when you are mixing with music that comes not perfectly gridded out of your traktor > Denon SC2000

if you want mix prepared tracks which are gridded and you keep your mix “in the (traktor) box” then > X1

it IS POSSIBLE to manually beatmatch tracks with your X1 if you mix with tracks which are coming from CDJ’s or an other PC or something but its NOT FUN

(as far as i can say with my x1 traktor setup and the standard config

how i can set the pitch from deck1 from 0.00% to 2.80% without touching the mouse or need a custom midi setup is something i don’t know ^^)

If you’re using sync, why would you ever need to nudge?

They’re not good enough. They’re great for routines, and I guess you could map one to actually work, but I just don’t see the point of spending the same money on something that has fewer controls and no logical way to select and load tracks (yes, I know you can map buttons…but do you really want to scroll through tracks with buttons instead of an encoder? Come on.)

I can attest to that. It’s fine for mixing out of the guy before you (if he doesn’t do something dickish like constantly move a pitch fader just to screw with you) but you don’t want to do it for a set. Sync works. If you’re using X1s, use it.

Also…if you’re not spinning hip hop, X1s are the most straightforward DJing has been for me since vinyl.

most of the time im manually beatmatching 2 songs that are @ different bpm’s..

i’ll use sync if i get a creative idea to do a quick mash up or remix or cuz im simply running out of time to find the correct bpm

Is nudge mapped by default on an x1 out of the box?

True about the mf thing, I use mine with a mixer, mixing free style. It’s fun but as u say I have to reach over to the mouse to load tracks

yes
