Where do YOU get your tracks?
Especially instrumentals and acapellas?
Do you use a dj specific swap site, or buy from iTunes, make the acapellas yourself?

Google for accapellas and instrumentals really, but for the most part I don’t use too many of those… Beatport and Amazon.
Beatport is pricey
But the selection is good. I usually google, just wondering where other people source their music. (I especially wonder about artists like Girl Talk with samples from all kinds of music that don’t have released a capella versions…)
Dimple Records! Ha.
If your near, in Los Angeles tomorrow

I would imagine Girl talk makes a lot of whet he uses, or is given them by labels that don’t hate him.
hahaha
you have to admit that his stuff always flows well, even if you don’t agree with his choices of samples ![]()
Bandcamp, soundcloud, and boomkat.
Dont really fuck with acapellas though
Acapellas by searching google. Tracks from SoundCloud or Beatport or google search. Depends what track it is
I have no stance whatsoever on how much anyone should pay for music, just wondering if people purchase them through authorized vendors (or whatever they’re called, iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, etc) or “google” which to me says… otherwise…
Soundcloud and CC Licensing is awesome, but obviously not available for major label tracks (was recently looking for Hollaback Girl a capella and it got me to thinking)
beatport
amazon
discogs.com (buy the media, rip it, shove it in the closet)
artists (more rare)
here:
As it were, just found a box of old vinyl in my moms basement (with a home theater technics table… didn’t really look at it yet, but I brought that girl home!)
So I got tunes FREE!
btw, I’ve been waiting for somebody to mention TPB haha I like that nobody has! (it happens to be their birthday today
)
For acapellas I do a quick google search then if I can’t find one that way I search www.acapellas4u.co.uk
For regular tracks I use:
Soundcloud (seriously soooo many good free tracks, I only buy about 5% of my tracks. Music Blogs can help you find some good ones)
Juno
Addictech
Beatport(ocassionally)
I so never thought of it, but when you do this, then you play tunes that other DJs don’t have in their collection… and you play fresh stuff for the crowd!!
What type of music do you play?
Yeah man it’s the way to do it! Most of the tracks I play are pretty unknown which is nice. The main genre I play is Ghetto Funk but I also play Dubstep (pretty finished with it though…), Glitch Hop, a bit of breaks, a bit of electro, a bit of Moombahcore/Moombahton, Hip-Hop, regular funk. Basically anything that can rock the party. I switch it up A LOT
.
If you’ve never heard of ghettofunk check out ghettofunk.co.uk or if you want to look into glitch-hop hit up glitchhopforum.com.
