Setting your sample rate to 96000 will mean more data has to be transferred and will drive up latency, but it’s exactly the same as re-encoding a 128kbps mp3 as 320 - it’s bigger but the quality’s no better.

The next time you’re in the studio, run TP2 (and the following in the background)
- Task Manager
- Resource Manager
You should also get an overview of your system performance as you work your system.
First open Task Manager for a quick system performance/usage overview:
“Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open the Windows Security screen and then click the Start Task Manager link.”

System performance through Windows 7 Resource Monitor will allow for event tracking and feedback through the various graphs and performance logs/data collector sets.
Once you feel comfortable with what you view as a standard charted resource usage…put the screws on TP2 and wait for your glitch.
You can track the history in your Resource Monitor and troubleshoot from there.
***Also, before you fire up TP2 or Resource Monitor, shut down your wireless network and disconnect your wired network connections.
When I’m in the studio and switching up systems, if I shut off or disconnect my wireless on any of the quadcore systems…TSP will freeze occasionally and/or lock up completely. Concurrently, spiking resources (video/audio, even on a fresh install and complete driver, system updates)
Just a thought for a bit of troubleshooting.
