WTF?!? Why is there no USB 3.0 audio interface o_O

WTF?!? Why is there no USB 3.0 audio interface :eyes:

So guys… I´ve went through the search option to find any thread which my topic is related to, but there wasen´t… so here is my story and question…

I´m a digital-dj and bootleg/mashup producer in the electro genre, from germany…

Facebook (likes and follows appreciated  )

… and I want to spend a lil money in a new usb-audio-interface for producing via ableton. All audio interfaces I´ve spotted out there were USB 2.0 connectable… so USB 3.0 isen´t that new… so why isen´t there any audio interface out there with USB 3.0 support?

And second question… Which kind of audio interface is best for electronic music production with ableton (I wanna spent less than 300€). Until now I used a Yamaha audiogram 3 (111€). But this is a recording soundcard… and I don´t use any of its inputs…

I can’t quite tell if you’re looking to record (and need preamps) or not. I have an Apogee Duet 2 that I really like.

I’m disappointed in you, the German standard is RME. Stereotype? Yes. Good Stereo type? Yes. check it out: http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_fireface_ucx.php

actually you answered this yourself
Yes you have been following information that 3.0 was released and how long its been around but
to the industry standard, 3.0 is still very new as not too many DEVICES are compatible with it yet

Speaking of Apogee, doesn’t the Symphony support USB 3.0?

I read a thread recently over at the gearslutz forum of this same topic. They all pretty much came to the conclusion that a usb 3.0 interface wouldn’t technically offer anything more than a 2.0 interface. Crazy right? Some sort of techno mumbo jumbo says that although it’s a faster connection it cannot offer a more higher quality sound, well at least in theory anyway. Plus there really isn’t a need for it right I guess. I mean do we REALLY need it? I’ve been gettin by just fine.

As for a soundcard recommendation, I don’t believe there are any interfaces specifically targeted toward a certain genre. Not sure how to go about that really. So any soundcard will do. You just need to decide how many ins & outs you need. Will you be recording any instruments or vocals? If so how many would you need mic’d up at the same time? How about hardware synths? 2 inputs would be nice so you could record them in stereo. I’d suggest you hit some online shops and check out the different interfaces they offer. Sweetwater has been good to me in the past and they got a pretty huge selection of music equipment. I can’t even begin to tell you how valuable a resource a catalog can be. When I was a teenager I would get that guitar center catalog every month and just read the description of every guitar, amp, and pedal that caught my eye. Then I discovered that youtube was more than just funny videos and started watching reviews. Then I hit the forums. Now I’m am an “expert” :stuck_out_tongue:

You obviously havent done your research, you really think you are gonna have so many inputs and outputs going through one usb port that its gonna exceed what usb2.0 can handle? Let alone 5 GB/s bandwidth!? … the answer is no.

THIS.

…once again, this is a waste of money.
