Xone 42 vs Pioneer DJM700

Xone 42 vs Pioneer DJM700

After moving from vinyl and serato to VCI SE (which I still love) I’ve decided I just love mixing on decks and so I’m gonna get TSP2 (audio 10) but I want a new mixer too.

My budget is around £700 and it would be a toss up between the Xone 42 vs Pioneer DJM700.

Just want to feel out general opinions / pros / cons

Cheers me dears

Pioneer DJM700

More effects and the chance is that you’ll see more of them if you ever play out (depending on your style and location too though). I think the 42 is a better mixer though.

Xone 42 in graphite

better looking, better build, better sound, great filters although no effects. Not that you’ll care with traktor though.

Do you want FX, and something that looks and works alot like the (new) standard club mixer ? → DJM 700

You dont really need the FX, you just want a good mixer, with good sound quality (not sayin the 700’s bad) → 42

I think I would go with the 42.

I don’t play out as much as I used to but i found it was a 50/50 split between pioneers and allen and heaths in booths.

I do like the mixer FX on my DJM600 cause they are post fader…

me personally - i would go for the 42 and a kaoss pad.

xone 42 all the way… especially if u can utilize traktors effects… more headroom and better sound on the 42 imo

I’ve got 700 and all I can say is I really love it. I like having the echo, delay, flanger, phaser effects. The filter is no Xone filter but it definitely does the job. Additionally xone eqs are total kill. Pios are not really. But the layout quality and effects made me really love it for home mixing.

If you think you will make use of the filters in the style that you mix then defo go for the 42

as said by other before if you intend to use the mixer along with traktor xone 42 for the better sound quality, if you’ll use it with cdjs/turntables then go for the djm :stuck_out_tongue:

Xone for the isolator EQs, mouth-watering filter and great sound/headroom.
Biased though :stuck_out_tongue:

If it was me i’d be going with the Xone 42.

Because i only use Traktor’s Fx.
but if i wanted effects from the mixer i’d go with the DJM 700.

I do love the xone filters… On the 42 I only get the one filter right. Is it worth going For the xone 62?

However I’m still feeling like the 700 is worth it for fx…

Actually the djm800 fx wise looks the tits

If you go DJM you could probably get an 800 at a decent deal used.

Hey, I don’t mean to hi-jack but i’m in a similar boat.

If you guys weren’t using software would you still pick xone 42?

I was thinking of getting the xone 42 and eventually a KP3.

The way it wired to me is that I could run a traktor thru the effect loop and grab a loop with the KP3 and then I could turn the w/d down on the channel I grabbed it from and turn it up on an empty channel and keep going.

3 channels would be more optimum but it seems the only good option there is nuo3. I think it would be just as well get a xone if I’m going at it.

I’d get a djm-900 but then i’d have to have cdj-900. Not that much flow around.

Xone 42. The full kill EQ’s already make it better than the 700, then you add the filters and superior sound quality and the win is pretty clear.

For around the same price why not get the Denon X1600? Excellent FX engine, midi mappable, with an entire area dedicated to custom midi mappings, traktor scratch certified etc.

Yeah… might be the vibe. I’m going to go and have a look this weekend at all three

You can get the 92 for around 800 on ebay these days and they are built like a tank and last forever so dont need to worry as much as with other used goods.

I got one of the old one’s second hand a couple of years back so its like 7 or so years old and everything on it works good as new
