Bought a new Allen and Heath Xone:92 mixer on Friday night, but ive been away for the weekend so only just managed to have a play around on it tonight (Sunday.)
At the start of the 3 hours of mixing, both filters working perfectly, then about 2.5 hours in, Filter2’s HPF just completely cut the sound, no matter whether its at 30hz or 20khz. The LPF worked from 30hz to about 100hz before cutting out, then completely cut the sound.
I tried the filter on different channels, compared it to the other filter etc
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any recommendation?
Wow, yeah maybe, get money back and go to a different shop, maybe they got cheaper units somehow on the grey market, who knows.
My unit was one of the originals built in the UK years ago, I know they changed manufacturing to China with cheaper components, the xone is a great mixer but it’s not one of the most sonically amazing products in the world, better than a pioneer though
Mine does have a warm period with a little internal buzzing until the whole thing heats up over the first 15-30mins.
This is extremely unusual…my Xone:62 is pretty old, 2006ish vintage, and the filters have, to my knowledge, never needed any sort of repair, or had any issues, other than occasional contact cleaning for scratchy pots.
Wow! Really weird…could be some kind of strange interference? I’ve used 92s in clubs packed up against CDJs and 1200s and never had an issue…both new grey faceplate, and the silver, never been an issue, and have had my 62 running all day with no problem…
Thats sux mate, good luck, there are rack panels that can give the xone more room to breathe, I’ve never liked the looks of them, maybe try and leave a smallish gap between mixer and CDJs on the next one.
yeah i probably could avoid the problem of it over heating by doing that…
but for a unit that costs as much as it does, i shouldnt have to make an exception. Had my djm750 up against cdj’s and run them for longer with 0 problem
I’m inclined to think it isn’t a heat issue…my Xone runs quite a bit cooler than any DJMs I’ve ever touched, and even when I’ve had it running all day in the sun outside it has never exhibited any issues.
What ended up being the final result? The same problem has started with my xone 92 (5 weeks old).
Overheats and the right filter stops audio when active.
Same problem here…filter 2 cuts the music even if low pass or high pass…
So the only way to fix this is to get a replacement? this is the first time i’m using the mixer and it already has this problem. Shame A&H, shame on you for destroying a great mixer with shitty china labor.
I have had the same problem. I have had my Xone 92 for about 3 years. This problem didn’t occur until about a year ago.
As you said, it is an intermittent problem. After about 1 hour of mixing, when i go to use the high pass filter on the right side (filter set #2) of the mixer, with the resonance at mid between mild and wild and the filter set at 30Hz, the low end completely cuts out.
I have no problems with the left side. I had both filters and resonance levels set exactly the same, and when i flicked between the filter channels 1 and 2, there was a noticeable difference in low end. Filter 2 would cut the low end completely, whilst filter 1 would amplify the low end (normal). I am playing with turntables, which shouldn’t make a difference.
I took it to my local Audio Visual consultant, who specialize in Technics and the A&H Xone series. As it is an intermittent fault, they couldn’t find anything wrong with it for they did not see it happen in their workshop.
I now have footage of the fault occurring which i will show them when i take it in again.
I will keep this thread posted on any developments with the issue. Has anyone had this issue resurrected?
wow. sad to read. My silver horse is still kicking ass in smoking areas since 2005.
Not that I think its the same problem, but in 2013 I had some left filter issues. What fixed it was changing crossfader
