Xone K2 - Mapping Loop Size and Set in Traktor…FAIL!!!
Wow! I’ve come a long way since my last post.
Have a really neat Xone K2 2 deck mapping for external mixer.
It even has cool beat phase LED’s etc…
But for some reason i cant get the Loop mappings to work.
I want the left most and right most top encoders to select loop size when rotating, (works!!) and activate the loop on/off when i press the encoder.
Now this is really basic and i know how to do it and i have done it on other controllers without issues.
The funny thing is, sometimes it actually works and then the loop active light works but no loop is set in Traktor.
Been scratching my head for the last 3 nights!
Someone, please help so i can then share my mapping!!
Hi Stewe, if i understand correctly, that would relate to LED mapping (Add Out)
My issue is that i can select size of the loop by the rotary encoder, but pressing the encoder button does not toggle loop on or off.
I would like it to function just like the Loop encoder button on the Kontrol X1, S4 etc… rotating selects loop size, pressing toggles on or off. Also these have to be random loops, not stored so u can select size and toggle on a loop wherever the playhead is.
It sounds super easy as it should, all the commands are there. It just doesn’t work as it should.
I have read it has something to do with Flux mode since 2.6 onwards…
I dont use Fluz mode, any where i can turn it off and see if the looping works…
This is really annoying as my mapping is complete, i am really happy and proud of myself, but i have no control over loops!
I did read somewhere that the Loop Set (Hold/Toggle) had something to do with Flux mode…
I dont use Flux and i did not make any mapping to enable or disable it.
I just saw that its in the Deck drop menu. Theres no * next to Flux Mode so i am assuming its disabled…
Since I don’t own K2 to troubleshoot it for you, I’ve search youtube a bit and came across
video - dude has mapped bottom two encoders to handle loop set and size in the same fashion as you described.
Can you please give it a try and map this two encoders to see if they possibly handle midi massages in a different way that those at the top?
Stewe, thanks so much. I fell asleep.
I will try mapping again. The bulk of my mappings came from another map i found online.
I will make a fresh mapping and see if it works.
Also, the exact same issue has been reported by other users as well and it seems flux mode has something to do with it.
I will try my luck again today…hmmm
Thanks Stewe! I’ll keep u posted. Its so frustrating!
And yes, please attach your mapping in the reply! I can look into it for you and kinda read commands without the controller to ensure that the encoder doesn’t click some redundant function.
Well, if all of that didn’t help, and you can’t make it work with computer keyboard ether, than it might got something with Traktor… (although, I don’t remember of this bug and I use traktor for more than 14 years)
-Can you test other midi controllers?
-What Traktor version you’re at? Legit one?
-Double check if the Flux mode is Off?
Your mapping didn’t help me figure out anything since the loop set commands are not even mapped in. Assuming you’re under 2.5.0 so newer version couldn’t pick up deck commands correctly.
Hey Stewe, am on 2.6.8, mac 10.8.4, macbook pro.
I will test another midi controller in the morning. I did double check and flux was off.
This is very annoying as again, sometimes it maps correctly and works. Then it stops working…
I am thinking of a fresh re-install tomorrow.
I really appreciate your help Stewe. Will keep you updated on this thread!
I give up for tonight and am going to sleep!
Bummer!
Hmmm… Do you have some other controllers in your setup? and in case you do, are MIDI in-port and out-port of your mapping set to “ALL PORTS”?
With all ports enabled and multiple controllers plugged in, there could come to massage conflicts between controllers if both controllers are sharing the same Note/CC massage. Therefor, your mapping ports should be set to the K2 controller!
I dont have any other maps so the IN/OUT ports are set to the K2.
I have the installers for 2.6.0, 2.6.1, 2.6.4, 2.6.8 and 2.7.3
Hesitant about 2.7 as ive read its not stable, but will try downgrading from 2.6.8.
I want to first uninstall Traktor completely but want to be able to retain my track comments and tags that i have created. I dont use playlists, so they can go to.
Which folder/files should i save and which should i delete for a complete fresh install.
Will test with other MIDI controllers today as well.
Talk soon!
Cheers Stewe!
