So, there is a new Korg NanoPAD out, and it has 16 buttons and a nice XY pad.
May I be crazy, but those buttons on top could be effects presets and the xy pad would be whatever. You guys think this would make a nice midifighter clone?
i heard the pads on these suck.. and that the build quality is not up to par to its competition (Akai LPD8). plus, the pads aren’t backlit..
idk… i’ve seen Korg PadKontrol’s go for like $80 and those are pretty good.
I would think so, though the midi fighter does have some functionality built in that would be kind of hard to duplicate with that (thinking 4 banks mode) without custom firmware.
Possible, but with limitations. Ever try duplicating the instant gratification mapping on the x1? You can only have two modifiers per control so it gets limited pretty quickly if you’re using modifiers for banks in addition to their normal functionality.
The arcade button above the x/y pad could be used to change scene / bank with led feedback. You could add some led’s for the bank of 16 buttons too but they would only be momentary.
If you can map the extra buttons at the top of the Nanopad then you could you could spice things up even more.
yea well im not sure if im gonna do this first or actually buy a midifighter. But since you have files and well im somewhat good at soldering- it could be done in about a month.
the instant grat mapping is already pretty complicated - i wouldn’t like to mod that to run on a controller that doesn’t have 4 banks internally. you can just use software that sites inbetween the controller and traktor tho ofc.
no problem if you want to run the deckalized mapping or any other that doesn’t need 4banks mode ofc.
i’d love a combo of arcade buttons and xy pad - tho the padone would be very cool as a drum programming interface. don’t really see the need for an xy pad tho… there again i’m a drummer so would rather tap fast than use a roll/flam thing on the xy pad.
The buttons of nanopad are velocity sensitive… I already try it…but all toll me that is impossible to replace velocity sensitive buttons with arcade buttons…
A possible workaround could be to mod a NanoPad (only the x-y stuff) and a NanoKontrol (for arcade buttons and eventually some extra faders/rotary pots to control fx dry/wet for exemple) in the same box.
I’m quite interested in this project, I think I’ll give a try.
