It is easy to be ‘out of order’ with somebody you can’t look in the eye, and the formal/informal nature of the written word/internet make it easy to lose subtleties and misinterpret things. Hey dude,

Ferrite beads (or Ferrite Chokes) are your solution. Super cheap for a lot of them, available at radio shack and most electronic stores, and greatly reduce EMI/RFI. Get a bunch and put them on both ends of all your cables and rock the fuck out.

I heard the bags that hard drives ship in will keep that from happening, but I’ve never tried it. You could also have someone call you (don’t answer it) while you run it along the cables to see if there is a spot that is worse than others.

And the vast majority of the problems people come to this board for help with are solved by obvious solutions. If someone doesn’t say they tried the obvious it will be the first thing we suggest. I think an apology is in order.

Oh, also, try using balanced wires for everything. That’s what night clubs do. The balancing makes the interference cancel itself out.
