You’re going to love this one . . . how do I get rid of didirit didirit didirit

Okay, so I have this sick ass party lined up for this weekend, I go out and get all my speakers, my lights and the whole 9 yards. I set everything up -flawless  I start to mix and F around with the entire setup to make sure there are no surprises - well there are always surprises for me

I got the didirit didirit didirit didirit through the speakers - that nasty sound that cellphones make. I went to the local music store (probably the biggest chain in Canada) and explained the problem - they all stared at one another in the rental section and said “Good question, how do we get rid of the didirit didirit didirit sounds” - I am now here to see what you guys suggest…!!!

turn your phone off?

I was going to say that! but you either turn of the mobile or move it away from the speakers, no other cure that i know of.

+1 for Brad’s suggestion.

If that fails, you have a high frequency signal attached to your audio signal. Are you hooked up balanced or unbalanced? With your speaker and light set-up, you should only consider balanced. If you are running balanced, you may have a bad cable, or worse, a bad piece of hardware that is not properly processing the balanced signal.

Start with hooking everything up balanced (at BOTH ends), then look for bad cables. And finally, start unhooking one piece of hardware, see if the noise goes away, if not hook it back up and move on to the next piece. You need to find the bad egg (if cables are all OK).

Phil.

OMG why didn’t I think of that . . . but wait, than I will have to ask the other 49 guests to do the same?

I will try this, thanks Phil…I’m surprised you gave +1 to Brad as it was just a smart ass comment!

hmmm… may i point out…

out of interest; does it happen when your phone is off? you haven’t mentioned this…

Mine only does this when my phone is sitting on top of the computer keyboard. Turn your wifi, bluetooth and your phone off

At least it isnt as bad as Nigel Tufnels interference.
Sorry couldnt resist this classic clip.

Starting with the obvious isn’t being a smart ass. If you’re asking for help, it might be in your favor to be open minded with any help you get.

faraday-cage the entire setup.

My speakers go nuts when I am spinning at the house and my iphone rings. Turning off the phone cures the problem.

Calling Brads response smartass isn’t very wise, considering its prob the solution to your problem.

I don’t think I can be any more obvious . . . the problem is a cellphone problem as I clearly explained in the original post.

Now that we all are 100% sure what the problem is and knowing that no one on earth asks their guests to turn their cellphones off at a 2010 party (in response to turn off your phone) - I am looking for alternative solutions…

Brad, you have to admit it was a silly response - while it’s the most obvious solution, it’s also the most unpractical. Just because someone might new to the forums (like me :stuck_out_tongue: ) it does’t mean they are completely clueless.

tbh my initial response would be ‘turn your phone off’ too, I’m surprised you are picking up interference from a phone that isn’t right next to your gear.

If everybodies phones are setting off the frog chorus then you have a SERIOUS shiielding problem somewhere. Try and isolate the problem - unplug your laptop and see if you get the same problem running from an .mp3 player, unplug your amplifier and see if you get the same problems in your headphones etc. My bet is on poorly shielded cabling.

just turn your cell phone off!

*sorry I had too

Yeah start unplugging one piece at at time and see what is triggering it. Try to isolate where its coming from.

I was being serious about faraday-caging your setup, maybe even the entire booth. it’s very efficient and will also protect you from flying bottles, falling debris… and the occasional lightning strike. you never know.

if that can’t be arranged, simply have every guest exposed to a short burst of microwaves before they enter the club. should take care of all pesky electronics at the cost of a slight headache - which can be cured with a couple of shots - which in turn increase the probability of everyone dancing.

profit!

no i don’t, especially when it’s been +1’d a few times, as mmauve said ‘start with the obvious’. you hadn’t said that you tried, so it was the most obvious first thing to suggest. hence the ‘?’ on the end. *

also it’s not that impractical as it’s generally a proximity thing. how close was/is your phone when it starts making the noise, use this base where you place things like amps and other sound processing pieces of kit. speakers/cables you will have some trouble with, but do what you can. wrap tin foil around the cables maybe? or is that being a smart arse?

also that noise generally occurs when phones are doing/about to do something. depending of the quality of phone signal in the venue it’s highly possible that most peoples phones won’t make the noise as they have nothing to communicate with.

oh ffs… dude if i was n00b flaming, trust me, you’d know about it and *short obvious answers are a regular thing i do when confronted with a scenario like this, had you have said something like ‘imitates the sound of phone interferance, even when phone is off’ my first thought would’ve been totally different and along the lines of check your power cables, then speaker cables.

Brad is right .

Its real simple. If someone doesnt mention that they have already thought of “the obvious” in their question its common sense that the members start with answering with the “obvious”.

99% of the time the obvious answer is the right answer.

Check out this private message Plato0n sent me:
“I am laughing at you right now as hard as I can - sucking balls on the forums are ya? Don’t be a hero on forums by standing up for high ranks admins . . . it’s so lame dude.”

this message was in response to my post:

“My speakers go nuts when I am spinning at the house and my iphone rings. Turning off the phone cures the problem.

What a little punk this guy is turning out to be.You try to help somebody out and you get shit like this in return.

@ Platoon
I can assure you I was not “sucking balls”. I simply did not believe BradCee’s comment was smart-ass in any way. He actually stated the obvious and anyone with any sense would have figured this out on their own. You have been on this forum for a couple days and already starting shit. Get a clue.

FYI, I will state my opinion whenever I feel like it and if you don’t like it then f*** ya. Also talking trash in a private message is so lame dude. Don’t send me anymore private messages.
