    hmmm. my understanding of the "bass music" umbrella term was covering stuff that was bassline driven.

    so now it means everything that is a breakbeat?

    ugh... all these new genres and categories are just exhausting trying to make sense of it.

    especially when it's dopey vague terms like post-dubstep and bass music...

    @Shane Says

    Thanks for all the artists!!! god, this is too much... im gonna have to just sit for a few hours and see what i like. As for the name, I definitely feel that the music is more RnB and Garage influenced. So calling it Post Dubstep is a little weird. I'll just stick to Future Bass for now i guesssss haha im sure it will change soon

    You'll hear plenty of the stuff that's mentioned in this thread over at Rob Booths Electronic Explorations http://electronicexplorations.org/
    There's a ton of podcasts to catch up on and I guarantee you'll hear some amazing tunes and mixes from the past, present and future of electronic music which is basically what's being talked about here.
    I'd leave pigeon holing to the magazines, blogs, hipsters etc. because I'll doubt any of the producers mentioned here sit down and think 'Right, I'm gonna make a *insert hip genre name here* tune today'. They'll no doubt be taking influences from all that's out there and has been before but the state of the music scene, at least in our world, is so healthy that producers are doing pretty much what they want regardless of tempo, formulas or whatever and in the process making some amazing stuff.

    Don't get caught up with the name. Just enjoy it, whatever it is.

    Here's last year's anthem:

    And here's a great girl unit remix by bok bok

    I'll keep sharing if you keep caring!

    Didn't see Nicolas Jaar on here either. More along the lines of James Blake

    Haven't checked out his full catalog but what I saw on BP seemed more on the lines of chill out, even though it's described as deep house on the site.

Some artists take influences from R&B, juke, or even techno and mend them with dubstep. Don't go around saying you mix post dubstep... it's not right. Also it's not all 130. I've seen songs from 125-142 BPM.

    This is the song of the summer for me:

    He's out of NYC and def has a more hip hop BPM range but gets into some pretty experimental sounds. Really nothing you could use on a dance floor but I would say the same about a lot of these artists. J Blake is straight crooning on half his album.
