Man, the db4 is super over priced IMO. It's not the perfect mixer by any stretch... Good but not perfect and so it ain't worth that money. So many cons IMO.

Mixer choice is super tricky. I actually thought the denon you had was pretty badass. Ticked a hell of a lot of boxes

Thanks for the reply scamo, much appreciated. Funnily enough I spotted this tucked away earlier. I'm curious as to how the TP2.5 remix decks for the S4 mapping (out of the box) will work(?). My guess is the S4 will be able to use the remix decks using the hot cues, sample cues and rotary knob but as suggested above it will be in a constrained manner compared to the F1 obviously. Guess we'll see. Cheers.

I use the current gridding function then modify and tighten as needed, but this new system sounds like it would make the feature less useful and essentially break it's main purpose... Starting to give me reasons not to upgrade to Traktor 2 lol, though I do kinda want that tape delay effect, really like the more subtle effects like reverbs, delays and filters.
I should probably take a better look at setting grid markers.

Most of my issues come into play when I'm trying to mix indie/rock type music and the live drummer drifts a bit. I can usually just beat match it by ear and things are fine, but every now and then, I stop paying attention and all hell breaks lose.

There's not much any grid marker can do no mater how you set it for a live drummer that may or may not be all jacked up on coke and weed.

Photojojo do you know what the workflow is for creating your own remix set? How quick is it to throw fill the 16 clips and save them as a set? And Is it similar to the way samples are saved now?

I have to agree with the price point and license bundle argument. If NI can at all make an "unbundled" version with a lower price, they should do so. The problem simply is, the F1 can be stand alone, but it is really a great addition to the S2 and the S4 and I bet it is actually there where the market for the product is. So NI is shooting past the best market they have, they're own customers, by bundling the F1 with Traktor 2.5. Their own customers have the software license already. If NI could sell the F1 for say $80-$90 less without the Traktor license, they would probably sell a lot more of them faster. I'd also be much less reluctant to buy two F1s, if they were only 199.- Euros. Now I have to pay 500,00 Euros and I am stuck with two extra TP licenses I just don't need (and don't want to waste time selling on e-bay).

You want the best FX jogs on the S4? Then try this mapping!

@Karlos - the fact that I own TP2 already only plays into it in that it makes the inclusion of TP2 with the F1 useless to me (and the likely majority of F1 purchasers, as I mentioned previously). My point in all of this is that the software, for whatever reason you want to put out there, increases the price of the F1 package unnecessarily. As for the F1 being a nigh necessary addition to the remix decks... I guess so? I really don't see the colors being all that useful, and it's basically an MPD32 in a smaller form factor (ish) with non-velocity sensitive pads. And where in my post was I complaining about NI being a 'money making company'? My entire point was that I get that and respect that - they're in the business of making money, as they should be; however, I refuse to be a supplicant bowing down at the feet of NI to thank them for finding another way to try to charge me for TP2 again. I'm not a fan of bundled software - and in the case of the F1, it doesn't make much sense for the reasons I've already listed. That's all. Feel free to praise NI for including TP2 in the bundle - we'll just have to agree to disagree.

i can also see a launchpad + nanokontrol being pretty cool for emulating two F1's. won't be hard to get all the F1 logic into a midimasher script. i can't wait for them to release 2.5 so i can finally come up with a usable/complete midimasher script that people could try out...

assuming ofc you can map all the stuff via midi - be dumb if u can't ofc
