    Default Second Screen

    Hey guys!

If I were DJing with a second person and wanted to have my own small personal screen with whatever's happening in traktor on it, could this be easily done?

I just saw the iPad mini and it sparked the idea

Yes, just send a mirror/clone image to the external monitor.

Obviously depends on your laptops outputs as to what lead you need to connect it

You can use the airdisplay app with the iPad, but there may be latency issues.

Is there a way of only displaying part of the screen on the external monitor? Like a close-up of the effect decks or something?

Not easily. There's some hacks that may do what you want, but I'm not sure. Air display works well enough, but there is some latency. I like it more for using programs on my computer while sitting in the recliner. I tagged a bunch of stuff with Beatunes and used the Beatport pro app for digging all on the iPad this weekend.

Wouldn't it be nice if apple enabled airplay mirroring between devices, not just to an apple tv. Quite niche appeal there I guess.

I want to say there's an iPad app that does that, beucase it sounds like something a friend was talking about enjoying a while ago………but I don't remember the details. I'm sure searching (google/duckduckgo) is your friend here.

It's not just a question of enabling it - the Apple TV has chips in it. It's a great deal of data, too - if one is using an iPad and the rMBP, he's mirroring two retina displays.
